Jesse Connally “JC” Arnold, age 96 of Blacksburg, VA passed away December 25, 2004 in the Kroontje Health Care Center, in Blacksburg, VA.
Mr. Arnold was born May 9, 1908 in Blacksburg, VA to Jesse L. and
Lillian (Connally) Arnold. He was married to Lillie Christine Stark for sixty-nine years. He was a civil servant at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX for many years moving from Wichita Falls, TX to Blacksburg, VA in 1996. He was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, TX a master mason for fifty-seven years and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII and in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Graveside services for Mr. Arnold were held Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at the Newport Cemetery with Rev. John Edwards officiating. Services under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, Jesse and his wife, Peggy ARnold, Blacksburg, VA and James “Jim” and his wife Joyce Arnold, Houston, TX; one brother, Robert and his wife, Laverne Arnold, Wichita Falls, TX; one sister, Birmah Malone, Wichita Falls, TX three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephew and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Christine Arnold; one brother, Luther Arnold, one sister, Helen Cowen and one grandson, James R. Arnold, Jr.

Wilburn Marion (Bill) Henley, age 86 of Nocona, TX passed away December 26, 2004 in Nocona, TX.
Mr. Henley was born August 8, 1918 in Nocona, TX to Bedford and Helen Salmon Henley He married Lavelle Laird on February 2, 1944 in Ryan, OK. He was in the Army Air Corp during WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster, distinguished Flying Cross, Distinguished Unit Badge with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, American Defense Service Medal, Rame Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Air Medal with 1 Oak Cluster and Good Conduct Medal. He was a rancher and had worked in the oil field.
Funeral services for Mr. Henley were held Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tommy Lamascus, and Jennifer Howard and Mike Boyd officiating. Interment was at the Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Jerry Wood Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Marion Boyd and husband Mike, Evergreen, CO and Thelma Sue Henley, Spanish Fort, TX; one son, William H. Henley and wife, Nocona, TX; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Bedford Henley and wife, Pat, Mesquite, TX; special friends, Jennifer Mallory Howard and Douglas Mallory; and several nieces and nephews.

Ida Mae McLaughlin Caldwell, age 69, of Little Rock, AR passed away December 25, 2004 in Little Rock, AR.
Mrs. McLaughlin was born May 5, 1935 in Mr. Vernon, AR to Rev. Marvin Chester and Essie Arizona Satterwhite Walter. She married Elbert Caldwell in Little Rock, AR. She was a homemaker and at one time was a Pastor at the Shady Grove Church. She was, at one time a band setter at the Haggar factory in Bowie. She enjoyed gospel singing and enjoyed singing with the Nocona Hill Choir.
Funeral services for Mrs. Caldwell were held Thursday, December 30, 2004 at the Shady Grove Church with Rev. James Walter and Rev. Don Russell officiating. Interment was at the Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Elbert Caldwell, Little Rock, AR; her mother, Essie A. Sitterwhite, one son, Johnny and wife Gwendelyn Mclaughlin; two daughters, Lynn Leonard, Perkins, OK and Diane and husband, Rev. Don Russell, Perkins, OK; step children, Rev. Kenneth and wife Jo Caldwell, McGee, AR and Ida Marie and husband, Bud King; five granddaughters, Dana Russell and finance Brandon Wine, Bowie, TX, Kasey & Kandi Leonard, Perkins, OK; Angela Miller and husband, Michael, Perkins, OK and Ashely Russell, Perkins, OK; one grandson, Jeremy Russell, Perkins, OK; one great granddaughter, Shea Miller, Perkins, OK; four step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James (Gene) McLaughlin, and granddaughter, Cynitha Leann Russell.
Jimmie Lee “Jim” Reed...
Jimmie Lee “Jim” Reed, 58, of Saint Jo, TX, passed away December 23, 2004 at Denton Regional Hospital.
He was born September 4, 1944 to John Day “Cap” Reed and Oleta May Lough Reed. He married Ann Huffman in August, 1963. Mr. Reed was retired from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department where he worked as a Game Warden.
Survivors include: his wife, Ann Reed of Saint Jo, TX; two children, daughter Tammy and husband Marc Graves of Bryson, TX and son Keith Reed of Haltom City, TX; one brother, John and wife Mary Reed of Saint Jo; one sister, Doris and husband Jesus Hernandez of Saint Jo; and four grandchildren, Jake & Kelly Reed of Haltom City and Scott & Paige Graves of Bryson.
Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his parents.
Harold B. Prather...
Harold B. Prather, 93, of Forestburg, TX passed away December 24, 2004 in Gainesville, TX.
Funeral services Mr. Prather were on Monday, December 27, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Forestburg Church of Christ with C.E. Cole and Loyd Morris officiating. Burial followed in Rosston Cemetery, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo, TX.
He was born September 11, 1911 in Beckham County, OK to Lester and Elsie Dennis Prather. On April 19, 1937 he married Susie Ann Sutton in Bowie, TX. She preceded him in death on January 22, 1992. He later married Lula Mae (DeGraffenreid) Sessums on May 16, 1993 in Forestburg. She also preceded him in death on February 18, 1999. He was a strong, active member of the Forestburg Church of Christ. He led singing at the church for a number of years. He was a retired farmer, an had worked for a natural gas company.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Nephews Jerry McCarty of
Chickasha, OK and Bobby Presley of Forestburg, TX were Harold’s nephews and personal caretakers.
In addition to his wifes, Mr. Prather was preceded in death by a very special granddaughter, Paula Williams.
Effie Odessa Jones...
Effie Odessa Jones, 87, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2004 in Bowie.
Funeral services were Sunday, December 26 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Dwayne Lamberson officiating under the direction of White Family Funeral Home.
Burial followed in Brushy Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department.
Effie was born January 22, 1917 in Decatur, TX to Benjamin Franklin and Nancy Holloway Dyer. She was a homemaker and loved playing with her grandchildren. She enjoyed puzzles, visiting with friends and gospel music. Effie appreciated riding around looking at the countryside.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Nancy Dyer; two husbands, Herbert Studebaker and H.L. Lew Jones; four brothers; and three sisters.
She is survived by: her son, Gary Studebaker and wife Charlene of Bowie; daughter, Jean Seigler and husband Doyle of Bowie; step-daughter, Ann Pessoney and husband Mike of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Mike Studebaker and wife Jennifer of Bowie; Misty Robertson and husband Jay of Bowie; Kara Studebaker Brinkley and husband Ryan of Gainesville; and Amanda Studebaker of Bowie; five step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren with one expecting; seven step-great grandchildren; sister Betty Whetsell of Sunset; and brother, Keelan Tucknies and wife Loreen of Sunset.
