Geri Guilliams...
     Services to celebrate the life of Geri Guilliams, age 80, of Lubbock, were held in W.W. Rix Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2005 with J. Alan Ehlo officiating. Burial was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, in the Montague County Cemetery. She died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 in UMC.
     Geraldine Elizabeth Cook of Healdton, OK was married to Ernest Guilliams in Montague, TX in 1942 and he died in 1973. She was a graduate of Texas Tech University and taught in the LISD system for many years. She enjoyed oil painting, sewing, gardening and the making of scrapbooks.
     Her two sons, Tim and wife Beth, and Ed and wife Diane, both of Lubbock and a granddaughter, Greta Janet Guilliams survive her.
     The family suggests memorials to the Division for Blind Services, 5121 69th St., Suite A-5, Lubbock, TX 79424 or book donations to the Lubbock City-County Library.

 

Bernard Lee “Bernie” Powell, Sr.
    
Bernard Lee “Bernie” Powell, Sr., 61, of Sunset, TX, lost his life on Friday, December 31, 2004 after a short battle with lung cancer.
     Funeral services were Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. a Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Burial followed at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
     In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lance Armstrong Cancer Foundation Center in Austin, TX.
     Mr. Powell was born September 27, 1943 to J.G. and Beulah Irene Boggs Powell in Parkersburg, W.VA. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1962. He delivered papers for the Parkersburg Sentinel. He was in the U.S. Air Force four years and was a 31 year employee of Bell Helicopter Textron. He married LaVerna Marilyn Montgomery November 12, 1964.
Mr. Powell was a coach and manager of several girls softball teams, White Settlement girls softball league and also served as president and was on the board of directors. He was involved in Cub Scouts, Webelos and many civic activities, including Westside CB Club, fundraising for various projects and served on the park board of the city of White Settlement.
     Survivors include: his wife of 40 years, Marilyn; daughter, Angela Faulkenberry; son and daughter-in-law, Bernie Jr. and Sandie; grandson, Lee Faulkenberry and granddaughter, Kayla Faulkenberry and their father, David Faulkenberry; twin granddaughters, Megan and Morgan Powell and their sister, Summer Morrow; mother-in-law, Donie Montgomery; brothers, Eddie W. Powell and wife, Janice of Danville, VA, Jay A. Powell of Vienna, W.VA; sisters, Norma Corbitt of Fort Worth, TX, Diana Powell of W.VA, Brenda Lockhard of Vienna, W.VA, Tammy Powell of Austin, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless dear friends. He will be dearly missed by his dogs, Chester, Cindy and Hannah.

 

Garrett “Cooter” Reed Wheeler...
    
Garrett “Cooter” Reed Wheeler passed away peacefully at his home in Corinth, TX January 6, 2005 just 11 days shy of his 3rd birthday. Garrett was born on January 17, 2002 in Las Colinas, TX. Garrett touched countless people in his daily life merely with his precious smile. Garrett was so full of life, love and happiness, and was the most gracious gentleman in the world. Even at such a tender age, Garrett was already an avid horseman. He loved riding his Shetland pony “little bit”, alongside his big sister Kendall on “Wildlife”. He was a good ol’ cowboy at heart and was already to ride on daddy’s Harley or playing with his hot wheels. Garrett was always the life of the party on the boat. He was never afraid to direct the band at the football games.
     He is preceded in death by his uncle John-Dodd Wheeler. 
     Survivors include: his parents, Lori Leigh and James Michael Wheeler and sister Kendall Lauren Wheeler; grandparents, Jean “Gigi” Wilson, Katherine “Queen” Wheeler, Ken and Debbie Reed; great grandparents Billy Jean and Garland Payne Johnson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
We who love him so deeply will miss him greatly and as we move forward Garrett will be there to welcome us home when our journey in this life ends and Gods promise for eternity begins.
Funeral services were Monday, January 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Interment followed in Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, TX.
Pallbearers were Bob Wayne Johnson, Gary Johnson, Teddy Johnson and Randall Smith.

 

James Randall Thornton “Cowboy”...
    
James Randall Thornton “Cowboy”, age 76, of Nocona, TX passed away January 4, 2005 in the Nocona General Hospital in Nocona, TX.
     Mr. Thornton was born August 8, 1928 in Miles, TX to John D. and Alberta Stewart Thornton. 
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
     Surviving relatives include: his children, Teresa and husband James Paris, Nocona, TX, Cherry and husband Jack Dunkel, Nocona, TX, and Judy and husband, Rick Myers, Long Beach, CA; four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. 

 

Louis “Louie” Alan Prost...
    
Louis "Louie" Alan Prost, 57, passed away January 4, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
     Funeral Services were held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 7, in the Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home with Father Stephen Berg, celebrant.
     Arrangements under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home.
     Burial was at Elmwood Cemetery.
     Louie was born December 11, 1947 to Louis W. and Lillian (Jones) Prost in Middleboro, Massachusetts. He served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty-one years until retirement. He married Shelly Kay Maness on October 9, 1987 in Decatur, Texas. He owned and operated Garcias Mexican Food Restaurant for four years and worked for the Texas Work Services in Wichita Falls for two years. Louis was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and flying remote control airplanes.
     Preceding him in death is his son, Ronny Lee Prost.
     Survivors include his wife, Shelly Prost of Bowie; children, Greg Barnes of Bowie, Pam Wood and her husband, Craig, of Spokane, Washington, Phyllis Mosley and her husband, Mark, of Ivanhoe, Texas, Angela Christenson and her husband, Randy, of Arlington, and Natalie Sloan and her husband, Rocky, of Nocona; nine grandchildren; parents, Louis W. and Lillian Prost; brothers, Will Prost and Bobby Prost and his wife, Diane; and sisters, Pam Hoffman-Kohl, Louisa Lindell and her husband, Brendon, Claire Holleran and her husband, Pat, and Claudia Stallard and her husband, all of Wilmington, Delaware.

 

JoAnn Gilmore...
     JoAnn Gilmore, age 74 of Whitehouse, TX passed away January 5, 2005 in Whitehouse. 
     Mrs. Gilmore was born August 9, 1930 to George and Annie Vermillion in Hamlin, TX. She married Vernon Gilmore on November 23, 1954 in Fort Worth, TX and was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Fort Worth First United Methodist Church and lived in Smith County for the past year and a half; prior to that she had lived most of her life in Ft. Worth, TX.
     Graveside services for Mrs. Gilmore were Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery assisted by Burgess-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home in Bowie, TX.
     Surviving relatives include: her children, Vernon Gilmore, Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Coppell, TX, Latricia Hammonds and Teresa Marshall of Whitehouse, TX, Carolyn Grant of New Mexico, and Jere Turner and her husband Randy of Fort Worth, TX; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
     She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Natalie Jones.

 

Clinton Dean Chase...
    
Clinton Dean Chase, age 35, of Forestburg, Texas, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005, near Forestburg.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2005, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Scotte Clark, officiating. Interment followed at the Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home. 
     Clint was born February 12, 1969 in Clovis, New Mexico. He attended Olney Schools. He and Paula Mudge were married August 31, 2002 in Justin, Texas. He worked in the oil field. He was a member of the Covenant Fellowship Church in Lake Dallas, Texas. He moved to Forestburg in 2002 from Argyle, Texas. 
     Survivors include his wife: Paula Chase of Forestburg, Texas; two daughters: Charity Mudge and Samantha Mudge both of Forestburg, Texas; his father and step-mother: Hugo and Linda Chase of St. Jo, Texas; his mother and step-father: Peggy and Lee Hughes of Olney, Texas; six sisters: Jacala Meyer and husband, Dennis of Olney, Texas, Beverly Ashley of Olney, Texas, Lawana Heard and husband, Stacey of Olney, Texas, Christine Lough and husband, Kevin of Olney, Texas, Kelly Lineberger and husband, J. D. of Denton, Texas, and Donna Hargraves and husband, Dale of Elkhorn, Iowa; and one brother: Jeffrey Dirickson and wife, Poppy of Justin, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
A fund has been established at First National Bank of Olney.
