Hollis B. Franklin (Shorty)...
Hollis B. Franklin (Shorty), 86, of Odessa, TX, passed away at his
residence in Odessa January 17, 2005.
He was born October 28, 1918 in Kiowa, OK to Ephraim and Pearl
Franklin. He was an oilfield heavy equipment operator and a member
of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Odessa. He was a veteran of WWII.
Graveside services were Friday, January 21, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at
Elmwood Cemetery with Rev. Jamie Reed officiating. Burgess-Owens-Brumley
Funeral Home directed the service.
Pallbearers were Ricky Smith, Corey Smith, Kevin Wood, Brandon Wood,
Monty Dawson and Jason Dawson. Honorary pallbearers were Travis
Dawson, Caleb Bass and Cameron Wood.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy L. (Mullins) Franklin of
Odessa; one son, Hollis Carl Franklin of Odessa; four daughters,
Norma and husband Gerald Smith of Hobbs, NM, Martha and husband Mike
Wood of Odessa, Kay Dawson and Cathy Franklin, both of Odessa; one
sister, Valley Jones of Paris, TX; seven grandchildren; and seven
and one-half great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; one sister, Mildred
Heifner; one brother, Elton Franklin; one grandson, Bryan Smith; and
son-in-law, Butch Dawson.
Clyde Earnest Dipprey...
Clyde Earnest Dipprey, 96, of Wichita Falls, TX, passed away on
January 20, 2005 in Wichita Falls.
He was born April 29, 1908. On February 11, 1928 he married Leola
Mae Pierce. Mr. Dipprey was a pumper for Burk Royalty Co.working in
the oil industry and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Park
Springs, TX.
Graveside services were Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at
Cumby Cemetery, Park Springs, TX, with Rev. Rick Ross officiating.
Burgess-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home of Bowie directed the service.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jimmie Brown of Wichita Falls, TX;
two sons, Owen Dipprey of Wichita Falls, TX and Berarr (Dipp)
Dipprey of Graham, TX; one sister, Clara Rue of Olney, TX; eight
grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and six great-great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Leola Mae Pierce Dipprey on
June 16, 1998; infant daughter, Mathilda in May, 1932; daughter Edna
Lorene (Rene) Dipprey in June, 1979; two brothers; and two sisters.
Thelma Beatrice Goolsby...
Thelma Beatrice Goolsby, of Spanish Fort, TX, passed away January
18, 2005 in the Nocona General Hospital.
She was born December 3, 1919 in Spanish Fort, TX to Elijah Robert
and Ora Ethel Barbee York. Mrs. Goolsby was a cook for Prairie
Valley School and then for Nocona General Hospital.
Graveside services were Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at
Spanish Fort Cemetery. Scott Morris Funeral Home directed the
service
Survivors include: one daughter, Frances Gholson of Bowie, TX; one
sister, Dorothea Skinner of Spanish Fort, TX; two brothers, Robert
J. York of Odessa, TX and Delbert York of Scottsburg, IN; three
grandchildren, Brady Meyers, Cory Meyers and Kristen Baumeister; and
three great grandchildren, MJ Meyers, Sydney Meyers and Tayler
Baumeister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. “Fats” Goolsby; and
five brothers.
Pauline Van Victor...
Pauline Van Victor, of Saint Jo, TX, passed away Monday, January 17,
2005 in Nocona, TX.
She was born January 3, 1914 in Bremond, TX to Stephen and Ann Kanst
Snider. She married Elgie Valton Hutson in Gainesville, TX in 1984.
He preceded her in death on January 8, 2001. She owned and operated
a bridal shop in Houston, TX before retiring. She married Elgie and
lived in Saint Jo after retirement. She was a Catholic by faith, but
attended the First United Methodist Church in Saint Jo since moving
there. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and The
Workers Sunday School Class.
Funeral services were Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at the
First United Methodist Church in Saint Jo with Revs. Sam Campbell
and C.E. Russell officiating. McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo
directed the service.
Burial was in Mountain Creek Cemetery. Family members served as
pallbearers.
Survivors include: her sister, Joyce Bennett of Houston, TX;
step-children, Charles Reed and wife Janis of Burkburnett, TX; Paula
Hutson of Victoria, TX and David Hutson of Saint Jo, TX; one nephew;
three nieces; three grandchildren; and several great nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Ann Snider and
her husband, Elgie Hutson.
Martha Elizabeth “Libby”
Fleming...
Martha Elizabeth “Libby” Fleming, 92, of Saint Jo, TX passed away
January 18, 2005.
She was born October 10, 1912 in Bonita in Montague County, TX.
Libby was the eldest of two children born to James Madison and Ester
Lee Wiley Fleming. She had lived in Montague County all her life,
most of it in Saint Jo. Libby was a long-time member of the First
Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She had worked some
thirty-plus years for Texas-New Mexico Electric. She enjoyed
gardening, especially flowers and really enjoyed being with her
friends.
Funeral services were Friday, January 21, 2005 at the First United
Methodist Church in Saint Jo with Revs. Sam Campbell and Larry
Kruger officiating. McCoy Funeral Home directed the service.
Pallbearers were Weldon Martin, Carl Chappell, DePaul Durham and
family members.
Survivors include: one brother, James DeWiley Fleming of Warren, MI,
several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Warren Marmaduke...
Warren Marmaduke, 79, of Nocona, TX, passed away on January 23, 2005
in Wichita Falls, TX.
He was born September 24, 1925 in Nocona to Andrew and Lona Roden
Marmaduke. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Marmaduke
worked in the oil fields.
Funeral services were Tuesday, January 25, 2005 a 2:00 p.m. at
Scott-Morris Chapel in Nocona with Rev. Tommy Lamascus officiating.
Burial followed in Nocona Cemetery.
Survivors include: two daughters, Warrie Lynn Walser of Wichita
Falls, TX and Linda Lofton of Broken Bow, OK; sisters Doris Green of
Wichita Falls, TX and Cynthia Lemon of Nocona, TX; one brother,
Herman Marmaduke of Nocona, TX; four grandchildren; and one great
grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clint
Marmaduke and A.W. Marmaduke.
Blanche Mae Tucker (Memmie)...
Blanche Mae Tucker, 92, of Nocona, TX, passed away in a nursing
center in Wichita Falls, TX on January 11, 2005.
She was born January 19, 1912 in Earlsboro, OK to John H. and Dora
Creig Reed. On November 23, 1935 she married Delbert (Jack) Tucker
in Hinds City, TX. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1978.
Mrs. Tucker was a housekeeper and sitter for the elderly in Nocona.
She had been a member of the Assembly of God in Nocona since 1956.
Services for Mrs. Tucker were on Friday, January 14, 2005 at 1:00
p.m in the Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Weldon Wright
officiating. Jerry Woods Funeral Home directed the service.
Burial followed in Nocona Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason Austin, Keith Sawyer, Daniel Sawyer, Roger
Teague, Ricky Reed and Bryan Reed.
Survivors include: her daughter-in-law, Anna Tucker of Wichita
Falls, TX; three grandchildren, LeAn Barnett of Wichita Falls, TX,
Melisha Sims of Mabens, MS and Tracy Sims of Mantee, MS; and one
sister, Ruth Davis of Gainesville, TX.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: one son,
Jackie Tucker in 1993; sisters Ella Russell and Ester Armstrong; and
brothers, Earl Reed and Lee Reed.

Church, Pine St., Nocona TX or the charity of your choice.
Roy Alan Bell...
Roy Alan Bell, 56, of Nocona TX, passed away January 16, 2005 in
Nocona General Hospital.
He was born January 29, 1948 in Nocona to Morris Leon and Melba Dean
Hewitt Bell. On June 26, 1970 he married Linda Hughes in Bowie, TX.
He was a leather worker and worked for Nocona Boot Company, National
Supply and Webber. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He
enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Services for Mr. Bell were Friday, January 21, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at
the Nocona Church of Christ with Rev. Mike Russell officiating.
Scott Morris Funeral Home directed the service.
Burial followed in Nocona Cemetery.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda Bell of Nocona; one daughter, Dee
Dee Middleton of Nocona; one son, Chad Bell, stationed in Okinawa,
Japan; his father, Morris Bell; one sister, Sonya Bell of Wichita
Falls, TX; one brother, Ronnal Bell of Montague, TX; and five
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Melba and one brother, Sammy
