Haskell L. Neely...
     Haskell L. Neely, age 68, of Bowie, TX passed away July 14, 2004 in Dallas, TX.
     Mr. Neely was born March 21, 1936 in Tolar, TX to H.L. and Laveta Sears Neely. He married Nedra Neely January 21, 1954. He was retired from the oil field after fifty years. Together with his wife, they owned and operated an antique store on the Saint Jo Square, “Elm Tree House”.
      Graveside services for Mr. Neely were held Saturday, July 18, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elm Wood Cemetery with Rev. Nick Anzalone officiating. 
      Services were under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
      Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Kellie and husband, Preston Honeycutt, Houston, TX; one son, Chris Neely, Bowie, TX; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nedra Neely; and his parents, H.L. and Laveta Neely.

 

 

Vernon Dora Swinson...
     Vernon Dora Swinson, 94, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2004 in Bowie, TX.
     Mrs. Swinson was born on a rural farm near Leona, TX on November 7, 1909. She walked and rode a buggy to the small Leona school and left the family farm when she met and married Carl Swinson on December 26, 1925. Vernon lived in various places in Texas while her husband, Carl worked in the oil fields. They moved to California in 1941 to work in the defense and aircraft plants. In 1943 they returned to Texas and her husband worked in the oil fields. Vernon traveled with Carl moving to Venezuela, Chile and then Libya following the oil field industry. They returned to Dallas in 1966 and retired to Bowie in 1973. 
     Surviving relatives include: her children, Charles Swinson and his wife, Naomi, Houston, TX; Weldon Frank Swinson and his wife, Laucita, Auburn, AL and Curtis Swinson and his wife, Susan, Dallas, TX; two brothers, Eldred Bullard, Bowie, TX and E.W. Bullard, Monterey, CA; seven grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.

 

 

Mary Lou Hess...
     Mary Lou Hess, age 64, long time resident of Muenster, TX passed away July 15, 2004. 
     Mrs. Hess was born December 26, 1939 to Joseph and Frances Hartman Vogel. She attended Sacred Heart School through the eighth grade and finished high school at Muenster High in 1957. She married Leo Hess on July 11, 1959 in Imperial Beach, CA. She retired from American Bank of Texas in July of 2004.
     Funeral Mass for Mrs. Hess was held July 17, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, TX with Rev. John Ohner, O.S.A. celebrating. The Eulogy was given by Bob Hanson. Interment was at the Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Muenster, TX. 
      Surviving relatives include: her husband, Leo Hess, Muenster, TX; her children, Brian Hess and wife, Danna, Muenster, TX; and Cheryl R. Hess Garcia, Denton, TX; two grandchildren; one nephew Michael Vogel, Houston, TX; four brothers, Wilbert Vogel, Muenster, TX, Leonard Vogel, Muenster, TX, Don Vogel, Saint Jo, TX and Weldon Vogel, Dallas, TX; seven sisters, Dorothy Beyer, Lindsey, TX, Evelyn Otto, Gainesville, TX, Norma Muller, Denton, TX, Corina Keys,Little Rock, AR, Lillian Walterscheid, Muenster, TX, Virginia Sherrell, Watauga, TX and Karen Hoenig, Denton, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Frances Vogel and an infant sister, Glenda Vogel.
     Pallbearers included: Jeff Keys, Dale Vogel, Kenny Sherrell, Steve Muller, Scott Hoenig and Michael Vogel. 
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to: American Cancer Society, Muenster Memorial Hospital or Home Hospice.

 

 

Colleen Avery Hunt...
      Colleen Avery Hunt, 76, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2004 in Bowie, TX.
      Colleen Hunt was born November 22, 1927 in Bellevue, TX to L.R. and Elsie Johnson Avery. She was a Registered Nurse with Bellmire Healthcare for over twenty years. She was a devoted mother to her son, Lanny, and enjoyed the companionship of her two cats, Bow and Luke.
     Funeral services were held Sunday, July 18, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Free Will Baptist Church under the direction of White Family Funeral Home. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery.
     Surviving relatives include: one son, Lanny Hunt, Bowie, TX; one brother, Jimmy Avery and his wife, Judy, Odessa, TX; two aunts, Alice Avery, Brisbana, Australia and Orlena Sexton, Lawton, OK.

 

 

James L. Robertson...
     James L. Robertson, age 72, of Montague, TX passed away July 14, 2004 in the Nocona General Hospital in Nocona, TX.
     Mr. Robertson was born March 10, 1932 in Nocona, TX to Grady and Allie Garrison Robertson. He married Pat Hanson January 5, 1952. He was a member of the Bowie Post-American Legion and of the Montague Church of Christ. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Barber.
      Funeral services for Mr. Robertson were held Saturday, July 18, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Scott-Morris  Chapel with Rev. Nolan Partridge officiating. Interment was at Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home. 
     Surviving relatives include: his wife, Pat Robertson, Montague, TX; one daughter, Joan and husband, Mike Smith, Flower Mound, TX; one sister, Juanita Sanders, Pampa, TX; one grandson, Tyler Smith, Flower Mound, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
     Casket Bearers: Harry Tracy, Sonny Sanders, Vic Snyder, Ron Hoover and Delbert Perkins.

 

 

Ina Wade Bell...
     Ina Wade Bell, age 80, of Nocona, TX passed away July 12, 2004 in Wichita Falls, TX.
      Mrs. Bell was born March 22, 1924 in Ringgold, TX to Luther and Della Reed Dix Williamson. She married Dalton James Bell on July 12, 1950. She was a member of the Nocona Church of Christ and of the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW Post 1922 in Gainesville, TX. During WWII she worked for Howard Hughes in Culver City, CA and retired from the Nokona Athletic Goods.
     Funeral services for Mrs. Bell were held Thursday, July 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nocona Church of Christ with Rev. Charles Reed, Dr. Rusty West and Dale Scott officiating. Interment was at Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: her children, Jim and his wife, Kathy Bell, Duncan, OK and Mary Adams, Wichita Falls, TX; six grandchildren; and seven great - grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Della Williamson; her husband, Dalton James Dell; and two daughters, Benora Mida Bell and Mary Jane Bell.
