Lola Harper...
     Lola Harper, 85, of Nocona, TX, passed away June 12, 2004 at Nocona General Hospital.
     She was born December 7, 1918 in Montague County, TX to Dave Heaton and Evie Long Heaton. On December 15, 1934 she married Clint “Red” Harper. Mrs. Harper was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She owned and operated Town and Country Beauty Shop and she was a Shade Tree Mechanic along side of her husband.
     Services were on Monday, June 14, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Moore officiating. Scott Morris Funeral Home of Nocona directed the service.
     Survivors include: one granddaughter, Revell Hardison of Nocona, TX; great grandson, Kyler Hardison of Nocona, TX; son-in-law, Sam Edwin of Fort Worth, TX; nephews Larry Heaton of Henrietta, TX and Jimmy Dale Heaton of South Lake, TX; one sister, Vernell Lovett of Jacksboro; one brother, Dale Heaton of Montague, TX; and numerous cousins.
     She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband in 1993; one brother, Clarence Heaton in 1964; and one daughter, Betty Edwin in 1971.
     In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Bethel Baptist Church.

 

Billy Gene Northrup II...
     Billy Gene Northrup II, age 30 of Nocona, TX passed away June 14, 2004 in the Nocona General Hospital, Nocona, TX.
     Mr. Northrup was born January 4, 1974 in Massachusetts to Joan Woodville and Billy Gene Northrup. He married Jennifer Engman on October 27, 2001. He was employed by Saint Gobin Technical Fabrics in Wichita Falls, TX, where he was a Weaver. 
     Funeral services for Mr. Northrup were held Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Kruger officiating. Scott Morris Funeral Home directed the services. 
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Jennifer Northrup, Nocona, TX; three children, Justin May and Devin and Jonathan Northrup, all of Nocona, TX; two sisters, Danile Atkins, Valley View, TX and Mary Gorton, Saint Petersburg, FL; one brother, Sean Northrup, Mayer, CO; and his mother, Joan Northrup, Nocona, TX.
     Casket bearers included: George Engman, Frank Collier, Rick Northrup, Carl Atkins, Ken Engman and Chris Harrison.

 

Jim Hickerson...
     Jim Hickerson, age 84, of Bowie, TX passed away June 3, 2004 at the Bowie Memorial Hospital in Bowie, TX. 
     Mr. Hickerson was born March 12, 1920 in Tahoka, TX to J.W. Hickerson and Willie Fern Hickerson. He married Mary Jackson Abel on September 4, 1971 in Grand Prairie, TX. He was a member of the Carter Lake Road Church of Christ, serving there as an adult Bible class teacher, deacon and later was in charge of the Early American and Personal Services Programs. He was a former member of the Bowie Kiwanis Club and was a volunteer for many years at Bowie Senior Citizens Center Meals on Wheels Program. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was discharged as a Captain. He graduated Baylor University in Waco, TX and retired from Continental EMSCO in 1985 as an auditor. He was an eighteen year resident of Bowie, TX.
Funeral services for Mr. Hickerson were held June 5, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Carter Lake Road Church of Christ in Bowie, TX with David Hall and Jonathan Page officiating. Interment was at the Fairy Cemetery south of Hico, TX under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: his wife, Mary Hickerson, Bowie, TX; one son, Jon David Hickerson, Rockwall, TX; one daughter, JoAnna Smith, Temple, TX; one granddaughter, Amy Smith, Temple, TX; one step-mother, Thelma Hickerson, Oklahoma City, OK; one brother, Arlis Thad “ Jack” Hickerson, Apple Valley, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Fern Hickerson; his father, J.W. Hickerson; and one brother, Glenn Lee Hickerson.
