Robert Brison Spencer...
     Robert Brison Spencer, age 78, of Pittsburg, TX passed away May 22, 2004 at his farm in Camp County, TX.
     Mr. Spencer was born January 8, 1926 to William Olvis Spencer and Artie Lucille Brison Spencer. He married Joyce Hoeldtke Spencer. He received a bachelors degree from Texas A & M Class of 1947 and was a member of the Kiddie Corps. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army Air Force. He retired from Dow Chemical and had lived in Gainesville and Graham, TX. He was a rancher after retirement. He was a member of the Chapel Methodist Church.
     Funeral services for Mr. Spencer were held May 25, 2004 at the Reeves Chapel Methodist Church in Camp Country, TX with Billy Cash officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. 
     Surviving relatives include: one son, Robert Brison Spencer, Jr., Gilmer, TX; two daughters, Joyce Ann and Rodney Reed, Pittsburg, TX and Susan and Jess Laird, Athens, TX; four grandchildren; one sister, Ann Spencer, and her husband, Harry Mathis Pittsburg, TX; and one sister-in-law, Charlotte Spencer Baker, Tyler, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Hoeldtke Spencer; his parents, William and Artie Lucille Brison Spencer; one brother, Rex Spencer.
     Pallbearers included: Rodney Reed, Jess Laird, Robert Brison Spencer, Jr., Blake Laird, Rex Laird, Remington Reed.

 

Frances (Hess) Stratton...
     Frances (Hess) Stratton, age 49 of North Richland Hills passed away May 19, 2004 at the North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills, TX.
     Mrs. Stratton was born June 26, 1954 in Muenster, TX to Arnold and Bonnie Hess. She attended Sacred Heart Schools and graduated from Grayson County College as a Registered Nurse. She worked first in Parkland Hospital in Dallas and then Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas. She moved to Clear Lake Hospital in Houston, where she became the head nurse in the Cardiac Care Ward. She then worked in Harris Methodist Hospital Downtown in Fort Worth from 1987 through 1998 working in all phases of nursing from pediatrics to cardiac care to patient assessment. She married Paul Stratton on April 24, 1981 in Irving, TX.
     Funeral Mass for Mrs.Stratton were held Saturday, May 22, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, TX with Rev. Donald Brennan, OSA celebrating. Interment was at the Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Muenster, TX. 
     Surviving relatives include: her husband, Paul Stratton, North Richland Hills, TX; one daughter, Trisha Stratton, North Richland Hills, TX;  her mother, Bonnie Hess, Muenster, TX; seven brothers, Don and Bob Hess, both of Muenster, TX, Dennis Hess, North Richland Hills, TX, Dave Hess, Glade Springs, VA, Steve Hess, Forestburg, Larry Hess, Sanger, TX, and Mark Hess, Runaway Bay, TX. She is preceded in death by her father, Arnold Hess and her brother Karl Hess.
     Pallbearers include: Roger Yosten, Barry Hess, Matt Hess, Toby Hess, Todd Hess and Boyd Gordon.
The family asks that memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and/or the American Kidney Foundation.

 

Helen Bullard...
     Helen Bullard, age 81, of Bellevue, TX passed away May 22, 2004 in the Bellmire Healthcare Facility in Bowie, TX.
     Mrs. Bullard was born December 6, 1922 in Gardner, FL. She married Dennis Bullard on November 6, 1941 in Arcadia, FL She was a sales clerk at a discount store and a resident of Bellevue for sixty-two years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bellevue, TX.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bullard were held Sunday, May 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fry Funeral Home Chapel in Bowie, TX with Rev. Robert Slayton officiating. Interment was at the Vashti Cemetery under the directions of Fry Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Sharon Webb and her husband, Charles, Bellevue, TX; two grandchildren, Casey and Amanda Webb, both of Bowie, TX; two great grandchildren, Tristan Young and Hunter Webb, both of Bowie, TX; one brother, David Jones, Arcadia, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Bullard; and one son, Edward Bullard.

     Oneida Beal Rister, age 59, of Azle, TX passed away May 21, 2004 in Azle, TX.
     Mrs. Rister was born in Weinert, Haskell County, TX. She married Melville J. Rister August 3, 1963 in Munday, TX. They lived in San Diego, CA from 1967 to 1989 and Granbury from 1989 to 1996 when they moved to Azle. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX. 
Graveside services for Mrs. Rister were held Monday, May 24, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in Azleland Memorial Park. 
     Surviving relatives include: her husband, Melville J. Rister, one daughter, Teresa S. Rister, Joshua, TX; two sons, Leslie D. Rister and Beal C. Rister, both of Azle, TX; two grandchildren, Cody Rister and Brandon Lackey, both of Azle, TX; two sisters, Francis S. Morrow, Wichita Falls, TX and Shirley M. Drew Wigley...
     Drew Wigley, 71, died Sunday, May 22, 2004, in Denton, TX.
     Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Shepherd of the Hills Baptist Church, Nocona, with the Rev. Walter Haynie, pastor, officiating. Internment will be private for the family.
     Drew was born December 3, 1932, in Hapeville, Georgia, to the late Alice Wigley and Drew Wigley. He worked in the aviation business for 45 years and owned Texan Aviation International.
     Drew proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard and was the former commander of the American Legion Post 220. Drew was a member of the American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Lions Club. Drew embraced the Nocona community and supported many civic and charitable organizations and was named Citizen of the Year in 1999.
     Drew is survived by five children, Sharon Young and her husband, Michael Young of Dallas; Drew Wigley and his wife, Colleen Wigley of Oak Point; Wayne Wigley of Grapevine; Alice Ballow and her husband, Jeff Ballow of Grand Prairie; and Kyle Wigley of Oak Point; one brother, Charles (Buddy) Wigley; Drew is also survived by four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Wigley.
     The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Shepherd of the Hills Baptist Church.

Stella Mary Ezzell...
     Stella Mary Ezzell, age 91, of Ringgold, TX passed away May 19, 2004 at the Grace Care Center/Texas Specialty Hospital. 
     Mrs. Ezzell was born January 15, 1915 in Sweet Home, TX to Frank and Ida Warsaek Vavricka. She married Vernon S. Ezzell and they owned and operated the Ezzell Cafe and Grocery in Ringgold, TX for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Ringgold, TX and served as a Sunday school teacher.
     Funeral services for Mrs. Ezzell were held Saturday May 22, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Nocona, TX with Rev. Lee Lucas officiating. Interment was at the Ringgold Cemetery under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: four sons, Jack Ezzell, Lake Dallas, TX, Jim Ezzell, Lake Bridgeport, TX, Jerald Ezzell, Ringgold, TX and Joe Ezzell, Wichita Falls, TX; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ida Warsaek; her husband, Vernon S. Ezzell on October 14, 1994; a daughter-in-law, Betty Ezzell; a grandson, Ronald Ezzell; and a great grandson, Andrew Kennedy.

 

Tessie Lee Norseworthy...
     Tessie Lee Norseworthy, age 88 of Nocona, TX passed away May 19, 2004 in a Nursing Home in Nocona, TX.
     Mrs. Norseworthy was born March 7, 1916 in Wichita County, TX to Margaret Wilson and John M. Hathaway. She married Darrell E. Norseworthy on March 11, 1934 in Oklahoma. She was a homemaker of the Baptist faith.
     Graveside services for Mrs. Norseworthy were held Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Brian Parks officiating. Interment was at the Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, TX under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home. 
     Surviving relatives include: two sons, Larry Norseworthy, Iowa Park, TX and Harold Norseworthy, Allen, TX; one daughter, Margaret Ruckman, Austin, TX; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and one one brother-in-law, Roy H. Norseworthy, Dallas, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell E. Norseworthy on January 10, 1999; her parents, John and Margaret Hathaway; and her twin brother, Farrell Hathaway.

 

Joe Hodges...
      Joe Hodges, age 87 of Bowie, TX passed away May 17, 2004 in the Bellmire Healthcare Facility in Bowie, TX.
     Mr. Hodges was born August 19, 1916 in DeLeon, TX to Arthur and Pearl Hodges. He was a Roustabout in the oil field. He was a member of the Kakamo Baptist Church in Eastland, TX.
     Graveside services were held Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery.
     Surviving relatives include: four sisters, Opal Bonner, Waxahachie, TX, Estelle Erwin, Gorman, TX, Margie Norred, Snyder, Tx and Vaudean Everheart, Bowie, TX; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pearl Hodges; one sister, Annie Dunn, Snyder, TX; and four brothers, Acy Hodges, Skedee, OK, Leo Hodges, Tulia, TX, Bobby Hodges, Mabank, TX and Curtis Hodges, Lamesa, TX

 

Warren G. Clary...
     Warren G. Clary, age 83, of Nocona, TX passed away May 17, 2004 in Gainesville, TX. 
     Mr. Clary was born July 21, 1920 in Montague County, TX to Newt L. And Pearl Phipps-Clary. He grew up in and around Nocona, TX. He attended Nocona Public Schools and was a graduate of Nocona High School. Warren enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to Army Intelligence “G-2”. While serving with Army Intelligence Warren worked in under cover operations which led to the capture of several German Operative Agents spying on U.S. Military interests in California. After World War II Warren attended the Texas State Teachers College (University of North Texas) in Denton, TX. During this time Warren with several friends formed a Country and Western band that played live on the KDNT radio station in Denton, TX every Saturday at noon. He married Johnnie Mae Dickson on August 14, 1954 in Nocona TX. They made their home in Nocona, TX and he went to work at Nocona Leather Goods (Nocona Athletics Goods) on July 17, 1957 and worked for forty-three 1/2 years until he retired December 20, 2000 at the age of 80. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Nocona, TX and of the V.F.W. American Legion and Woodman of the World. 
      Funeral services for Mr. Clary were held Thursday, May 20, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Moore officiating. Interment was at the Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: his wife, Johnnie, one son, Michael Clary, Denton, TX; one step-daughter, Wanda Bailey, Nocona, TX; one step-grandson, Kevin Bailey, St. Jo, TX; one step-granddaughter, Karen Johnson, New Castle, OK; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Newt L. and Pearl Phipps-Clary; two brothers, Leon and Oran Clary; and one sister, Jo Wilma Mullis.
