Ruby Mae Swatsenbarg Lewis...
     Ruby Mae Swatsenbarg Lewis, age 83, of Bowie, TX passed away May 28, 2004 at the Denton Regional Hospital in Denton, TX.
     Mrs. Lewis was born May 31, 1920 in Christi, OK to James and Rozella Swatsenbarg. She married Cordie Dee Lewis August 7, 1937 in Prairie Grove, AR. She was a Christian with a heart full of God’s love-a love she was always willing to share, and we all thank God and Mrs. Lewis for sharing it with all of us. She was an avid quilter, piecing her quilts by hand; collected dolls and had a great interest in Cherokee Indian folklore; loved her flower gardens; loved her 2 Chihuahua dogs, Teeki and Tisha; was a God given wife and helpmate to her devoted husband Cordie in the home, dozer business, 7L Farm and Ranch and in all matters.
     Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis were held Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fry Funeral Home Chapel in Bowie, TX with Rev. Jim Swatsenbarg officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: five daughters, Mrs. Ava Lawson and her husband, Verne of Vashti, TX; Mrs. Bonnie Jackson and her husband Bobby of Bowie, TX, Mrs. Jeannie Yowell and her husband Monte of Bowie, TX, Mrs. Clea Buechler of Salona, TX and Mrs. Cordieann Bright and her husband Charley of Bossier City, LA; twenty-one grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; three great great grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews including one special nephew, James Lee, whom Cordie and Ruby raised in their home. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rozella Swatsenbarg; her husband, Cordie Lewis; one son, Cee Dee Lewis; eleven brothers; four sisters; and two great grandsons.
     Pallbearers included: Ben Hill, Waldo Roth, Bobby Parr, Corey Jackson, Rooter Brite, Gerald Hammer. Honorary pallbearers included: Tim Boyd, Darrell Stockard and all grandsons.


Martha Sicking...
    
Martha Elizabeth Knabe Sicking, 86, of Muenster, TX passed away Friday, May 28, at Muenster Memorial Hospital.
     She was born July 18, 1917 on a dairy farm north of Muenster. On October 1, 1940 she married Leo Sicking in Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, TX. She was a wife, mother and homemaker. From 1967 to 1983 Martha worked for the Junior Elite Sewing Factory. She and her husband, Leo, raised cattle and gardened for many years. Mr. Sicking preceded her in death on May 11, 2004.
     Rosary for Mrs. Sicking was Sunday, May 30, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at the McCoy Funeral Chapel in Muenster. Services were conducted Monday, May 31, 2004 at Sacred Heart Church in Muenster with Rev. John Ohner, O.S.A., celebrating. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.
Pallbearers were Matthew Wiggins, Ryan Wiggins, Atticus Sicking, Michael Rowton, Herbie Knabe, and Henry Knabe.
     Survivors include: daughters, Sharlene Depold of Lake George, NY, Annette Anderson of Dallas, TX and Karen Wiggins of Richardson, TX; sons, Charles Sicking of Plano, TX, Kevin Sicking of League City, TX, Dan Sicking of Bay City, TX and Dean Sicking of Lincoln NE; eighteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters, Caroline Hess of Muenster, TX and Lucille Schoeder of Windthorst, TX; brothers, Tommy Knabe of Muenster, TX and Johnny Knabe of WI.
     In addition, Mrs. Sicking was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Fights and her brothers, Herbert Knabe and Norbert Knabe.

Geneva E. Dorman...
    
Geneva E. Dorman, 76, of Bowie, TX, passed away May 30, 2004 in Bowie.
     She was born December 9, 1937 in Truman, AR to Ernest and Lou Crow Petty. On May 15, 1944, she married J.E. “Shorty” Dorman in Fredrick, OK. The couple recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. She was a homemaker and a member of the Red Hat Angels in Wichita Falls, TX.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at the Light House Assembly of God Church in Bowie with Joseph Chiles, Lonnie Harris and Kern Choate officiating. White Family Funeral Home of Bowie directed the services.
     Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
     Casket bearers were: Lanny Dorman, Kelly Dorman, Matt Dorman, Gregg Shaw, Roy Roberts and Rocky Smith.
      Survivors include: her husband, J.E. “Shorty” Dorman of Bowie, TX; three sons, Gary Dorman and wife Sharon of Clovis, NM; Larry Dorman and wife Tonya of Bowie, TX; and Greg Dorman and wife Sherry of Bowie, TX; one daughter, Melissa Chiles and husband Joe of Mesquite, TX; one sister, Jo Ann Petty Bentley and husband Charles of Wichita Falls, TX; four brothers, Larry Gilbert Petty and wife Bobbie of Pampa; John E. Petty and wife Nancy of Amarillo, TX, Ernest C. “Tony” Petty and wife Susan of North Richland Hills, TX; Mickey E. Petty and wife Sherry of Bowie, TX; one sister-in-law, Ann Dorman of Electra, TX; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Monica Kay Cantrell...
    
Miss Monica Kay Cantrell, 37, of Saint Jo, TX, passed away May 30, 2004 in Saint Jo.
     She was born January 24, 1967 in Dallas, TX to David Glenn Cantrell and Myrna Loy Stone Cantrell. Miss Cantrell graduated from Saint Jo High School in 1986. She enjoyed collecting Disney Movies and Collectable Barbie’s and stuffed animals.
     Services were Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Saint Jo with C.E. Cole officiating. Interment followed in Mountain Park Cemetery. Scott-Morris Funeral Home of Nocona directed the services.
     Survivors include: her parents, David & Myrna Cantrell of Saint Jo, TX; one brother, David Lynn of Travis Air Force Base, CA; her grandmother, Frances Stone of Saint Jo, TX; nieces Angela, Sarah and Samantha Cantrell of CA; nephew Billy Cantrell of CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Robert Wayne Blevins...
    
Robert Wayne Blevins, age 46, of Nocona, TX passed away May 26, 2004 at North Richland Hills, TX. 
     Mr. Blevins was born March 27, 1958 in Ryan, OK to Jequitta Stevens and Virgil Blevins. He was a carpenter and a mechanic and a member of the Carpenters Union #977. 
     Graveside services for Mr. Blevins were held Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nocona Cemetery with Donald Cheshier officiating. Interment was under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: his parents, Jequitta and Tommy Platt, Wichita Falls, TX and Joyce and Virgil Blevins, Nocona, TX; one son, Robert Leroy Blevins, Key West, FL; two sisters, Jennie Caraker, Wichita Falls, TX and Carol Dancy, Bowie, TX; one step sister, Betty Blevins, MS; three brothers, Jamie, Stevie and Raymond Blevins, all from Wichita Falls, TX; and two step brothers, Donald Jackson, MS and James Allen Platt, OK.

 

Helen Faye Sawyer...
    
Helen Faye Sawyer, 76, of Nocona, TX, passed away May 28, 2004 in Nocona General Hospital.
     She was born September 1, 1927 in Nocona to William S. Murphey and Anna Lee Jennings Murphey. On December 13, 1947 she married Archie W. Sawyer. Mrs. Sawyer was a homemaker and a child care provider for fifteen years for many of the area youth. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nocona and a life time member of the United Methodist Women’s. She was also a member of Nocona TOPS.
          Funeral services for Mrs. Sawyer were held Sunday, May 30, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Nocona with Rev. L.C. Smith and Rev. Rod Messer officiating. Scott-Morris Funeral Home of Nocona directed the service.
     Casket bearers were Mrs. Sawyer’s grandsons: Chris Talley, Steve Talley, Kyle Brinkman, Jeffrey Sawyer, Daniel Sawyer and Mathew Sawyer.
     Survivors include: her husband, Archie Sawyer of Nocona, TX; one daughter, Leta Talley of Gainesville, TX; two sons, Larry Sawyer of Denton, TX and Keith Sawyer of Nocona, TX; three brothers, Billy Ray Murphey, John A. Murphey and Jerry Wayne Murphey, all of Nocona, TX; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

 

Julia F. Fitts...
   
Julia F. Fitts, 87, passed away May 28, 2004 in Bowie, TX.
    She was born December 13, 1916 in Montague County. She married Oscar Lee Fitts July 28, 1934 in Terral, OK. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1995. Mrs. Fitts worked for General Dynamics for many years.
     Services for Mrs. Fitts were Sunday, May 30, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Drawing Room of White Family Funeral Home with Damon Groves officiating. Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of White Family Funeral Home.
     Casket bearers were: J.W. Pickett, Junior Waldon, Gary Farmer, Barry Fitts, Charlie Boyett and Tommy Brookshire. Honorary bearers were the staff of Bowie Memorial Hospital.
     Survivors include: one brother-in-law, Paul and Treva Fitts of Bowie; numerous nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

 

 

Frank Emerson Putt, Jr....
    
Frank Emerson Putt, Jr., 75, of Bowie, TX, passed away May 20, 2004 in Wichita Falls, TX.
     He was born January 1, 1929 in Clymer, PA. On June 14, 1969 he married Marie Merrill in Hurst, TX. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Putt owned and operated Town & Country Cleaners Inc., Steamliner and TOCO Oil and Gas. He was an avid golfer.
     A requiem mass was held Monday, May 24, 2004 at Saint Patricks Epsicopal Church in Bowie, followed by a celebration of Frank’s life at 2:00 p.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel in Colleyville, TX. Burial followed at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. White Family Funeral Home directed the service.
     Survivors include: his wife Marie Putt of Bowie, TX; children Monta and Tad of Grapevine, TX, Frank E. Putt III and Myla of Trophy Club, TX, Debra Wilson and Larry Mayo of Dexter, TX; Steven Lee Huckabee and Vicky of Bedford, TX; Kimberly Smith and Jayme of North Richland Hills, TX; one brother-in-law, H.L. and wife Janice of Colleyville, TX; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. 

 

 

Lois Doyle...
    
Lois Doyle, 89, of Nocona, TX, passed away on May 28, 2004 at Red River Health & Rehab Center in Wichita Falls, TX.
     She was born October 18, 1914 in Nocona, TX to George Heaton and Ethel Evans Heaton. Mrs. Doyle was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nocona and a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class. She had worked for Justin Leather Goods, and for Gibbs Drug Store. Mrs. Doyle was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Doyle on June 8, 1993.
     Services for Mrs. Doyle were Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Nocona with Dr. Bryan Parks officiating. Interment followed in Molsbee Chapel Cemetery. Scott-Morris Funeral Home of Nocona directed the services.
     Casket bearers were Tim Pope, Phil Hamm, Brad Walser, Tim Walser, Doug Terry and Larry Pettit.
Survivors include: children, Troy and Gayle Doyle of Gainesville, TX; one sister, Wanda Pope of Prattville, AL; one brother, Leon Heaton of Alvord, TX; two granddaughters; two grandsons; and four great grandchildren.
