Virginia Nell Jones...
    
Virginia Nell Jones, 74, passed away October 31, 2004 in Bowie, TX.
     She was born November 22, 1929 to Lester and Elizabeth (Williams) Trotter in Bellevue, TX. She married Joe Jones on April 5, 1959 in Montague, TX. Virginia worked with Bellmire Healthcare for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
     Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2004 in the Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Wood officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home.
     Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
     Survivors include: three daughters, Sue Foster, Betty Smith, and Brenda Johnson and her husband, Clyde, all of Bowie; three sons, Mike Sutton and his wife, Debbie of Henrietta, TX , Joe Bob Jones and his wife Beverly and Cody Jones and his wife, Michelle, all of Bowie; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; three brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     Pallbearers were Kevin Stone, Cody Read, Tony Jones, Bryan Sutton, Keith Sutton and Rusty Read.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by: her parents; her late husband, Joe Alex Jones; and one sister, Lanora Trotter.

 

Babe Weaver Anderson...
    
Mr. Anderson, 81, of Bowie, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2004 surrounded by family and friends in Ball, LA, after a lengthy illness. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a construction worker.
     Services for Babe Weaver Anderson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2004 in the chapel of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home, Bowie, TX with Reverend Jackie Eastwood officiating. Burial will follow in Briair Creek Cemetery, Bowie, Texas, under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
     His wife, Theo Anna Bell Anderson, one sister, Margaret Hanson, and one brother, Ed Anderson, precede him in death.
     Those left behind to celebrate his life include his three children, Ronnie E. Anderson, Connie Y. Tate, and Judy D. Brown; one sister, Doris Sharon, seven grandchildren, Briana McKinney, Byron Tate, Joseph Tate, Regina Tate, Christopher Brown, Bradley Brown and Zachary Anderson; and fifteen great grandchildren.

 

Raymond L. Shoemaker...
    
Raymond L. Shoemaker, 83, a lifetime resident of Bowie and Bellevue community, passed away October 31, 2004 in the Bowie Nursing Center, Bowie, TX.
     He was born October 14, 1921 in Pleasant Ridge Community, Bowie, TX. Mr. Shoemaker was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bowie, a past memer of the Bowie Masonic Lodge #578AF & AM and a member for over forty years. He was a dairyman and a veteran of WWII.
Funeral services for Mr. Shoemaker were Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sara Hardaway officiating. Fry Funeral Home directed the services.
Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery, Sunset, TX.
     Pallbearers were Billy Glen Shoemaker, Jeff McDonald, Gary Vick, Larry Vick, Robert Vick, and Ron Cox. Honorary pallbeares were Bill Tuttle and Bobby McWilliams.
     Survivors include: his wife, Lucille of Bowie, TX; one sister, Pauline Vick and husband Bill of Wiley, TX; brothers Glenn Shoemaker of Sunset, TX and Lloyd Shoemaker and wife Shirley of Bowie, TX; three grandchildre and two great grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jo Ann Allison, one sister, Oleta McDonald, and five brothers, Carl, Orville, Ferman, Elvin and Elden Shoemaker.

Walter Homer Schmitz...
     Walter Homer Schmitz, 77, of Muenster TX, passed away October 28, 2004 in Muenster.
     He was born November 30, 1926 in Gainesville, TX to Joseph J. and Anna Loerwald Schmitz. Walter was a retired Air Force MSGT. having served in the Korean War. He was the recipient of several service medals and accommodations. He was also involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis. Walter was a longtime member of the V.F.W. in Muenster. He was raised in Lindsay, TX where he attended school. He moved to Muenster in 1982.
     Rosary was Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Chapel in Muenster.
Funeral mass was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2004 at Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, with Rev. John Ohner, O.S.A., celebrating the mass. McCoy Funeral Home directed the service.
Pallbearers were Mike Trubenback, Trent Trubenback, Justin Walterscheid, Jimmy Schmitz, Bill Schmitz and Mike Frost.
     Survivors include: one daughter, Laura and husband Tom Holton of Jacksonville, FL; one son, Steven Schmitz of Denver, CO; one grandson; and one great grandson.
     He was preceded in death by: his parents, two brothers, William and Richard; three sisters, Agnes Stewart, Stella Claybrook and Lena Mae Truenback.

 

George Robert Bishop...
    
George Robert Bishop, 76, passed away October 27, 2004 at his home in Bowie, TX.
     He was born October 25, 1928 to Wylie and Jerolene Bishop in Snyder, TX. He served is country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post #252. George enjoyed ranching and attending cattle auctions. He married Iva Lou Gulley in Valley View, TX on July 24, 1948. They celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary this year.
     Graveside services were at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2004 in Crestview Memorial Park, Wichita Falls, TX with Terry Harrelson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of White Family Funeral Home.
     Survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Iva Bishop of Bowie, TX; sisters Lavermo Ellis of Fort Worth, TX and Mary Norris of Burleson, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carl Ray Bishop.
     Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rural Texas of Bowie.

 

Naoma M. (Porter) Darter...
    
Naoma M. (Porter) Darter, 88, passed away Friday, October 29, 2004 in Bowie, TX.
     She was born June 18, 1916 in Indian Territory, OK. She retired from the Fort Worth Independent School District. She was a member of the Tate Springs Baptist Church for sixty years. 
Funeral services were Monday, November 1, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. at Mount Olivet Chapel in Fort Worth, TX. Burial followed in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
     Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and James McCash of Bowie; grandchildren, Scott McCash and wife Debbie of New Braunfels, Shawn McCash and wife, Cindy of Phoenix, AZ, and Shelly Taylor and husband, Frank of Bowie, TX; great grandchildren, Colby and Cassidy Taylor, Kristen, Jared and Kevin McCash and Ian McCash; one sister, Aline Giles of Fort Worth, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-two years, Earsel N. Darter and her parents, Isom Hill and Sarah Justin (Gorbett) Porter.

 

Robert E. “Bob” Myers...
     Robert E. “Bob” Myers, 83, of Bowie, TX, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2004 in Bowie Memorial Hospital.
     Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bowie with Rev. Mike Henson officiating. 
     For those desiring and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bowie Memorial Hospital’s Family Room, 705 E. Greenwood, Bowie, TX 76230 in his name.
     Bob was born August 6, 1921 in Fort Worth, TX. He was a veteran of WWII and a plumber by trade. He was a 50 year member of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local #146. He moved to Bowie in 1974 and quickly became a character at the Bowie Second Monday Trade Days. He managed that flea market for many years. Many knew him as “Bob, the Barbwire Man”. He also owned and ran the Myers Table and Tarp Company. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He and his wife Mary are members of the First Baptist Church of Bowie.
     Mr. Myers was preceded in death by one son, Michale Myers.
     Survivors include: his wife of 62 years, Mary Boris Myers; daughter Carol Williams and husband Jerry of Fort Worth; daughter Bobbie Ann Johnson and husband Marty of Alvarado; son Gene Myers and wife Jan of Decatur; sister, Naomi Black of Sherman; brothers, Gerry Myers, Joe Myers and wife Jerri, all of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
     Arrangements were under the direction of Fry Funeral Home, Bowie, TX. 

 

Cary Lyle Baumwart...
    
Cary Lyle Baumwart, age 82 of Bowie, TX passed away October 26, 2004 in the Bowie Memorial Hospital in Bowie, TX.
     Mr. Baumwart was born September 10, 1922 in Oklahoma City, OK to Cary Lyle and Eula Mildred (Ogden) Baumwart. He was retired from the Bowie Fire Department and a disabled Veteran of WWII where he served in the Army.
     Funeral services for Mr. Baumwart were held Thursday, October 28, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fry Funeral Home Chapel with David Hall, Chaplin for the Bowie Fire Department officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: his wife, Dorothy Baumwart, Bowie, TX; two sons, Don Baumwart, Springtown, TX and Gary Baumwart, El Reno, OK; two daughters, Linda Marmaduke, Nocona, TX and Alice Cannon, Clinton, OK; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and cousin, Elvis Baumwart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cary and Eula Baumwart.
     Pallbearers included: members of the Bowie Fire Department, Ross Hamilton, Lee Adams, Randel Heugatter, Austin Heugatter, Gary Adams and Mike Heugatter.
