Polly Baker Anthony...
Polly Baker Anthony, 86, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2004 in Bowie, TX.
She was born to L.C. and Molly Coker Rascoe in Mount Calm, TX on April 7, 1918. She attended school in Waco, TX. In 1938 she married Bruce Baker, Sr. and resided in Waco until his death in 1981. She then moved to Bowie to be closer to her son and family. She married Woodrow Anthony on March 30, 1996 in Bowie.
Polly loved life and loved people. She never met a stranger. She loved playing card games, dominos and watching sports. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class.
She is survived by: her husband, Woodrow Anthony; her son Bruce Baker, Jr. and his wife Fran, all of Bowie; two grandchildren, Shan Raley of Bowie and Deidra Deaton and her husband, Kent of Decatur; four great grandchildren, Lindsay Raley, Ryan Raley, Dillon Deaton and Logan Deaton; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Poole and her husband, Jessie, Jimmie Lou Carson and Elizabeth Pickens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Sunday, August 29 at First Baptist Church of Bowie with Rev. Mike Henson officiating. White Family Funeral Home directed the service.
Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery, Bowie, TX.
Casket bearers were Rylan Raley, Dillon Deaton, Kent Deaton, Ronnie Johnson, Lonnie Moore and Larry Hargrove.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation in Dallas, TX.
David Wayne Brown “Grumps”...
David Wayne Brown “Grumps”, 50, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2004 in Arvada, CO.
He was born January 9, 1954 in San Antonio, TX to Bob and Kathey Pitner Brown. He was a heavy equipment operator for A.C. Excavating Company in Denver, CO for the past seven years. He loved antique cars and was currently rebuilding a 1937 Chevy pickup. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services for Mr. Brown were on Monday, August 30, 2004 at Shady Oaks Baptist Church of Elmendorf, TX with Rev. William Kindla officiating. White’s Family Funeral Home directed the service.
Burial was Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Stoneburg, TX.
Survivors include: his father Bob Brown and his wife Leona of San Antonio, TX; his mother Kathey Coughenhour and her husband, Harry of Marion, TX; one daughter, Kathy Blair and her husband, Gary of Austin, TX; grandchildren Koby and Kase Blair of Austin, TX; three sisters; two brothers; and numerous relatives, friends and neighbors.

Estie Leta “Doodle” Russell, 82, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2004 in Sunset, TX.
“Doodle” was born January 7, 1922 in Burleson, TX to David and Edna Selman Sells. She worked for General Dynamics as as inspector and married Kenneth Russell in 1947. Formerly, they lived in Newark, TX where Doodle and her mother ran a laundry. The family moved to Sunset in 1964 and owned and operated fabric shops in Sunset, Newark and Bowie. She had served in the women’s auxiliary raising funds for the Newark and Sunset Fire Departments. She was a member of the Newark and Sunset Church of Christ.
Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of Sunset with Gerald Cleveland officiating. White Family Funeral Home directed the service.
Interment followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include: her husband, Kenneth Russell of Sunset, TX; two sons, Danny Russell and his wife Doris of Sunset and Billy Russell of Galveston, TX; two grandsons, Bryan and Kevin Russell; three great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Cole and McKenna; and one brother, Robert H. Sells of Tyler, TX.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Bryan and Kevin Russell; great nephews, Logan Smith, Len Conant, Mark Conant and Todd Sells.

“J.H.” John Herman Hensley, 94, of Nocona, TX, pased away on August 28, 2004 in Nocona.
He was born July 3, 1910 in Temple, OK to Luke and Amy Bayless Hensley. On July 7, 1934 he married Pauline Boydston. They were married 70 years. Mr. Hensley had worked as a Production Supervisor for Galaxy Oil Co.
Survivors include: his wife Pauline of Nocona, TX; one daughter, Helen McNew of Denison, TX; three grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Hensley were Sunday, August 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Hasting Cemetery, Hasting, OK. Scott Morris Funeral Home of Nocona directed the service.
