Mallie Wilhite Gaskins...
Mrs. Mallie Wilhite Gaskins, 73, a lifetime resident of Bowie, TX, passed away on April 15, 2004 at Bowie Memorial Hospital.
She was born February 28, 1931 in Salona, TX. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: two sons, LaDale Wilhite of Grand Prairie, TX and Michael Wilhite of Forestburg, TX; two daughters, Debbie Mullens and Vickie Schell, both of Bowie, TX; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Odessa Cox of Decatur, TX, Mrs. Jean Vanbebber and Mrs. JoAnn Johnson, both of Bowie, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, LaDale Wilhite, Jr.
Services were Sunday, April 18, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jamie Reed officiating. Interment followed in Salona Cemetery. Fry Funeral Home of Bowie directed the service.
Pallbearers were Steve Cornelison, Clyde Johnson, A.E. Cozart, Bruce Stell, Gary Don Cox and Bob Cornelison.

 

Rosendo Javrez Gomez...
Rosendo Javrez Gomez, 77, of Nocona, TX, passed away on April 13, 2004 in Nocona, TX.
He was born March 1, 1927 in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico to Pedro Gomez and Ginia Juarez Gomez.
Services were Saturday, April 17, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Nocona with Father Stephen Burg officiating. Interment followed in Nocona Cemetery. Scott-Morris Funeral Home of Nocona directed the service.
Survivors include: his wife, Maria Merced Gomez Alvarez of Nocona, TX; six sons, Benjamin Gomez Alvarez, Aurelio Gomez Alvarez, Roberto Gomez Alvarez, Bartolo Gomez Alvarez, Martin Gomez Alvarez and Juan Gomez Alvarez, all of Nocona, TX; four brothers, Ramon Gomez Juarez, Guadalupe Gomez Juarez, Merced Gomez Juarez and Tomas Gomez Juarez, all of Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico.

 

Frances Reeves...
Mrs. Frances Reeves, 89, of Odessa, TX, passed away at Hospice House in Odessa on Tuesday, April 13, 2004.
She was born August 29, 1914 in Bowie, TX. She was married to Red Reeves for sixty-one years. Mrs. Reeves was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1939.
Services for Mrs. Reeves were on Friday, April 16, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Odessa, TX with Rev. Bill Heggemeier officiating. Interment was on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at Newport Cemetery, Newport, TX under the direction of Fry Funeral Home of Bowie.
Survivors include: one sister, Maurine Hickman of Bowie, TX; two nephews, Don Hickman of Pampa, TX and Joe Burchell of Odessa, TX; and one niece, Joyce Hickman of Bowie, TX

 

Doris “Lucille” Morgan...
Doris “Lucille” Morgan, 77, of Nocona, TX, passed away on April 13, 2004 in Nocona.
She was born March 29, 1927 to Charlie Robert Clay and Grace Lenore Howard Clay in Nocona. Mrs. Morgan was a member of the 39’ers at the Church of Christ in Nocona. She worked in food service at Furrs Cafeteria and at Rider High School, then later at Justin Leather Goods making gloves. She was preceded in death by her husband, “PeeWee” Reuben V. Morgan on September 2, 1973.
Services for Mrs. Morgan were conducted Friday, April 16, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Nocona, TX with Dale Scott officiating. Interment followed in Nocona Cemetery with Scott-Morris Funeral Home directing the service.
Survivors include: three children, R. Derrall Morgan of Holliday, Tx, Doris Cotter of Gruver, TX and Ted Morgan of Nocona,TX; one sister, Bonnie Morgan of Nocona, TX; and five grandchildren.

 

“Tom” Thomas Marion Cardwell...
“Tom” Thomas Marion Cardwell, 48, of Nocona, TX, passed away on April 14, 2004 at his residence in Nocona, TX.
He was born March 2, 1956 to J.N. (John Nathan) Cardwell and Clara Goldsmith Cardwell in Nocona. Tom graduated from Nocona High School in 1975. He received his associates degree in Nursing in 1976. He had worked at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston, TX, Henrietta and Muenster hospitals and at Horizon Manor Nursing Home. For the last several years he had lived in Dallas, TX and was working as a computer trouble shooter for Ace Cash Express.
Graveside services for Mr. Cardwell were on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at the Nocona Cemetery, Nocona, TX. Scott Morris Funeral Home of Nocona directed the service.
Survivors include: his mother, Clara Cardwell of Nocona, TX; one brother, John N. Cardwell of Nocona, TX; one sister, Suzan Cardwell of Houston, TX; former sister-in-law, Witt Cardwell of Nocona, TX; nieces, Whitney Cardwell of Fort Worth, TX and Meghan Cardwell of Sherman, TX.

 

Lee Manley Tamplen, Jr....
Lee Manley Tamplen, Jr., 78, of Boyd, TX, passed away on April 17, 2004 at a Decatur, TX hospital. He was born Nov. 1, 1925 in Oklahoma to Lee M. Tamplen and Ethel Kitchens Tamplen. Mr. Tamplen was a truck driver and veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in WWII. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He married Billie Taylor on September 4, 1946. She preceded him in death on September 9, 2002.
Survivors include: three daughters, Ann Storm of ID, Sue Jackson of Pelican Bay, TX and Melissa Young of Boyd, TX; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren
A private service was held for Mr. Tamplen with interment in Long Branch Cemetery, Montague County, TX. Jerry Woods Funeral Home directed the service.

 

Eli Aubrey “Orb” McMahan...
Funeral services for Eli Aubrey “Orb” McMahan were held Saturday, April 17, 2004 at McCoy Funeral Chapel in Saint Jo, TX with C.E. Cole officiating.
He was born November 30, 1910 to Archie and Judy McMahan in the Dye Mound Community, where he attended Dye Mound School. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He worked as a service station attendant, a school custodian and was active in yard maintenance. Mr. McMahon loved to fish. He was a loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include: two daughters, Velma Woods of Saint Jo, TX and Audra Walker of Wichita Falls, TX; one son, Dean McMahan of Lewisville, TX; seven grandsons; six great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers were Mr. McMahan’s grandsons, Benny Charles Sauer, Mark Sauer, Benny Frank Clayton, Kelly Clayton, Danny Woods and Billy Ray McMahan. Honorary pallbearers were Micael Dean McMahan and Brent Sauer.

 

Russell Davis...
Mr. Russell Davis, 82, a fifty-seven year resident of Bowie, TX, passed away on April 11, 2004 at Bowie Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 9, 1922 in Van Lear, KY. Mr. Davis married Marjorie Butler on June 7, 1946 in Bowie, TX. He retired as an engineer for the Rock Island/MKT Railroad. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Bowie, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed God’s creation and was a hard working man.
Services for Mr. Davis were Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Markee officiating. Fry Funeral Home of Bowie directed the service.
Interment followed in Brushy Cemetery.
Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Davis of Bowie,TX; two daughters, Mrs. Janice Kubica of Kerrville, TX and Mrs. Patricia Ann Rowan of Midland, TX; one son, Joe R. Davis of Chickasha, OK; one granddaughter, Michelle Dent of Lubbock, TX; two grandsons, Jeffrey Davis of Chickasha, OK and Joseph Rowan of Midland, TX; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Fairchild of Paintsville, KY, Mrs. Arbutus Music of Sharon, TN and Mrs. Jean McLaughlin of Lake Panasoffkee, FL; one brother, Vincel Davis of Lake Panasoffkee, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Davis; and two brothers, Sterling Davis and Paul Bryan Davis.
Pallbearers were Brock Lyons, Norman Ingram, Joseph Rowan, Jeffrey Davis, Hardy Dent, Clyde Henson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Garrett, Junior Brewer, C.M. Boyett, Dick O’Connor, Hershel Stevens, George Degler, Tom Brown, E.O. Martin and Joe Middleton.
Memorials may be made to the donors favorite charity.

 

Mable Fugate...
Mrs. Mable Fugate, 57, a thirty-five year resident of Bowie, TX, passed away on March 28, 2004.
She was born October 8, 1947 in Kittaing, PA. She married Carroll Fugate on February 15, 1964 in Pampa, TX. Mrs. Fugate was a homemaker and member of East Side Baptist Church in Bowie. She worked at the Haggar Slack Factory for a few years as a seamstress, then worked at Bowie Nursing Center for 30 years as a nurses aid.
Graveside services for Mrs. Fugate were conducted Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Bowie, TX with Rev. Jamie Reed officiating. Fry Funeral Home directed the service.
Survivors include: her husband Carroll Fugate of Bowie, TX; three sons, Randy, Wes and Jeff Fugate, all of Bowie; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Cousins, Ruth Brink, and Marg Cousins, all of Kittaing, PA; one brother, Allen Brink of Kittaing, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
