James Alton Hendricks...
James Alton Hendricks, age 73 of Saint Jo, TX passed away March 30, 2004 at a Nocona nursing home in Nocona, TX.
Mr. Hendricks was born September 1, 1930 in Saint Jo, TX to Starling and Minnie Hoffman Hendricks. The family lived in the Dye Mound area where he attended school and later graduated from Saint Jo High School. He married Cynthia Miller on February 18, 1979 in Saint Jo, TX. He served ten years in the U.S. Army, a part of which was served in Korea during the conflict. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He operated a service station in Saint Jo during the 1950’s and then worked on a ranch near Anson, TX. 
Funeral services for Mr. Hendricks were held Friday, April 2, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Keith Rogers officiating, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: five step-daughters, Joye Biery, Haltom City, TX, Vicki Epting, Denton, TX, Becky Starr, Gainesville, TX, Nola Hammons, Denton, TX and Paula Walterscheid, Denton, TX; one brother, Jasper Hendricks, CA; three sisters, Loraine Werts-Hulke, MO, Rachael Bell and Dorothy Rubottom, IA; mother-in-law, Metta Miller, Saint Jo, TX; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Hendricks; his parents, Starling and Minnie Hendricks; and three brothers, Lester, Weldon ( Peck) and J.B. Hendricks.
Pallbearers included: Jim Barnett, Weldon Martin, Johnny Sewell, Lonnie Sewell, Ronnie Starr and Joseph Coffey. Honorary pallbearers were: Clyde Yetter and Cherokee Brewer.

 

Johnnie Mae McLauglin Beene...
Johnnie Mae McLaughlin Beene, age 80 of Cleburne, TX passed away March 28, 2004. 
Mrs. Beene was born August 23, 1923 in Burkburnett, TX. She married Austin E. McLaughlin on September 16, 1939 in Bowie, TX., with his passing in 1988. She was a resident of Bowie for fifty years before moving to Cleburne, TX. She married Robert B. Beene, was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services for Mrs. Beene were held Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at the Fry Funeral Home Chapel in Bowie, TX with Rev. Paul A. Henderson officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, Frank McLaughlin, Cleburne, TX, and Durrel McLaughlin, Nacadoches, TX; one daughter, Eva Duckworth, Rockport, TX; twenty grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Lucille Price, Bowie, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin E. McLaughlin in 1988; her brother, Thurman Price; her sister, Opal Rhodes; and her husband Robert B. Beene in 1997. 
Pallbearers included: Ben Lovette, Johnny McLaughlin, Dennis McLaughlin, Scott Kemp, Scott Miller and Richard McLaughlin.

Donna Kay Self, age 33, of Antelope, TX passed away April 3, 2004 in Antelope, TX.
Mrs. Self was born December 3, 1970 in Tulsa, OK to Sharon Breedon and Phillip Wells. She married David Self on October 27, 1994 in Newark, TX. She was a homemaker.
Graveside services for Mrs. Self will be held Sunday, April 10, 2004 at at the Roberts Branch Cemetery in Jack County at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Steven Bernard officiating, under the direction of White Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, David Self, Antelope, TX; one son, Alan Self, Antelope, TX; one daughter, Brianna Shoemaker, AR; father, Phillip Wells, Tulsa, OK; mother, Sharon Breedon, Tulsa, OK; one sister, Lavella Gunn, Tulsa, OK; two brothers, Mat and Adam Beltie, Tulsa, OK; and step-father, Don Beltie, Tulsa, OK.

 

J.W. “Dub” Hightower...
J.W. “Dub” Hightower , age 78, of Bowie, TX passed away March 30, 2004 at the Bowie Memorial Hospital in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Hightower was born February 23, 1926 in Electra, TX. He was a trucking company owner and a resident of Bowie for over 54 years. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Bowie, TX. He served in the US Navy and was a lifetime member of Reddy-McClellan VFW Post #8789 in Bowie and the Bowie Masonic Lodge #578 AF & AM. 
Funeral services for Mr. Hightower were held Friday, April 2, 2004 at the New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Dwayne Lamberson officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home. 
Surviving relatives include: his wife of fifty-three years, Nelda Hightower, Bowie, TX; one daughter, Diana Reneau, Lufkin, TX; one son, Keith Hightower, Weatherford, TX; five grandsons, five great grandchildren; one brother, Earl Hightower, Bowie, TX; two sisters, Vera Miller and Geneva Davis, Bowie, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norris and Faye Hightower.
Pallbearers included: Grandsons: Jason Bell, Kevin Bell, Michael Bell and Colby Hightower and Colton Hightower; Friends: Steve Fincher and David Heard.

 

June Ferguson...
June Ferguson, age 72, of Nocona, TX passed away March 29, 2004 at the United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, TX.
Mrs. Ferguson was born January 6, 1932 in Spanish Fort, TX to Berniece Ruth McGaughy and Thomas Jud Gill. She married Floyd Edwin Ferguson on August 26, 1951. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was Treasurer for the Spanish Fort Cemetery Association and Museum Board member of the Tales N Trails.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ferguson were held Thursday, April 1, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Nocona, TX with Rev. Keith Barbee officiating. Interment was at the Spanish Fort Cemtery under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home. 
Surviving relatives include: one son, Bob Ferguson, Nocona, TX; one daughter, Ronda Hall, Carrollton, TX; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Edwin Ferguson, on March 17, 2002, her parents, Berniece Ruth McGaughy and Thoms Jud Gill.

 

Lillie Christine Arnold...
Lillie Christine Arnold, age 85, of Blacksburg, VA passed away March 29, 2004 in Blacksburg, VA.
Mrs. Arnold was born November 13, 1918 in Post Oak, TX to Charlie and Ida Stark. She married Jesse Connally Arnold and was a longtime resident of Wichita Falls, TX from 1953 until she moved to Blacksburg, VA in 1995. She was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, TX. 
Graveside services for Mrs. Arnold were held Friday, April 2, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. at the Newport Cemetery with Rev. Darius McKay officiating, under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Jesse Connally “J.C.” Arnold, Blacksburg, VA; two sons, Jesse Charles Arnold, Blacksburg, VA, and James “Jim” Arnold, Pearland, TX; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Beulah Ferrill, Houston, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ida Stark; four brothers, Ellis, Ira, James, and Luther Stark; one sister, Della Epps, and one grandson, James R. “Robby” Arnold.
