Arva Crystelle “Chris” Talley...
Arva Crystelle “Chris” Talley, 88, passed
away Saturday, August 20, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
She was born February 9, 1917 in Fate, TX to Virgil
Howell and Mary Arva (Ferris) Taylor. On October 1, 1938 she married
Charles Talley in Farmersville, TX. She worked as a hairdresser for
years, but most of all her family and grandchildren were her pride and
joy.
Services were on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at 10:00 a.m.
in the Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home with Rev. Sara
Hardaway officiating. Burial followed at 3:00 p.m. in Restland Cemetery.
White Family Funeral Home directed the services.
Survivors include: her son, Charles Talley and his
wife, Jean of Bowie, TX; grandchildren, Sean Talley and his wife, Lisa
of Rome, TX; Lisa Groves and her husband, Mark of Possum Kingdom, TX;
Michael Talley and Shayne Talley and his wife, Lisa of Colgate, OK; Lori
Michelle Villari of Eagle Mountain Lake; and twelve great grandchildren.
Mrs. Talley was preceded in death by: her husband,
Walter Talley; son, Joe Mac Talley; parents, Virgil and Mary Taylor;
granddaughter, Vikki Talley; brother, V.O. Taylor; and sister, Nellie
Burns.
Pallbearers were Sean Talley, Mark Groves, Olan Taylor,
Ronald Brown, Bill Beasley and Ron Brown.

J.R. Richards, 80, of Bowie, TX, passed
away August 17, 2005 in Bowie.
He was born September 25, 1924 in Crawford, TX to Jonah
Adolphus and Sara Lee (Jacobs) Richards. J.R. and Ruby Richards married
in July, 1946 in CA. Mr. Richards was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Funeral services were Saturday, August 20, 2005 at
11:00 a.m. in Heritage Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Abbott
officiating. Burial followed in Brushy Cemetery, under the direction of
Heritage Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Survivors include: one daughter, Judy Bowman of Bowie;
sons Samuel Richards of Bowie, TX and William Richards of Wichita Falls,
TX, Rudy Richards of Woodville, TX; two brothers; and one sister; twelve
grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Earl Hightower...
Earl Hightower, 81, a fifty-one year resident of
Bowie, TX, passed away on August 20, 2005.
He was born June 3, 1924 in Electra, TX. Mr. Hightower
was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Servcies for Mr. Hightower were Monday, August 22, 2005
at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry
Jones and Rev. Dwayne Lamberson officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood
Cemetery, under the direction of Heritage Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Survivors include: his wife, Jessie Mae Hightower of
Bowie, TX; son Mickie Hightower and wife Helen of Bowie, TX; two
sisters, Vera Miller and Geneva Davis, both of Bowie, TX; two
grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother
and his parents.
Josephine Opal Sanders...
Josephine Opal Sanders, 69, passed away Wednesday,
August 17, 2005 in Abilene, TX.
Josephine was born October 18, 1935 to James Floyd and
Nora Marie (Vaughn) Everett. She married James Derrell Sanders and
worked for the American National Insurance Company for over twenty
years. She enjoyed antiques and being with her family, especially her
grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday, August 21, 2005 in the
Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie with Rev. Ronnie
Tucker officiating, under the direction of the White Family Funeral
Home.
Burial followed in Briar Creek Cemetery.
Survivors include: her children, Steve Phariss and his wife,
Anna of Bowie, TX, Judy Hubbard and her husband, Marvin, of Bowie, TX
and Jeff Sanders of Abilene, TX; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-four
great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, James and Nora
Everett; husband, James Sanders; brother, James Everitt; and daughter,
Trudy Mosher.
Frank G. Stilwell...
Frank G. Stilwell, 93, a fifty-three year
resident of Bowie, TX, passed away August 19, 2005 in Bowie.
He was born March 16, 1912 in Bellevue, TX. He
was a member of First Baptist Church of Bowie, TX.
Services for Mr. Stilwell were Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at
Heritage Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bowie with Rev. Mike Henson
officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of
Heritage Family Funeral Home.
Survivors include: one son, George Frank Stilwell of
Corpus Christi, TX; daughter Jackie Sue Roop of Colorado Springs, CO;
five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five great-great
grandchildren; and two step-daughters, Louis and Mickey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Linnie
(Bowman) Stilwell; three wives, Lucille Wolcott Stilwell, Alda Elizabeth
Stilwell and Velma Lois Stilwell; and one grandson, Mitch Stilwell.
Beulah Wayland...
Beulah Wayland, 94, of Hobbs, NM, passed away August 18,
2005 in Hobbs.
Mrs. Wayland was a former resident of Nocona, TX. She
was born April 26, 1911 in Terral, OK. On June 19, 1926 she married
Harry E. Wayland in Terral, OK. He preceded her in death March 29, 1965.
She was a life member of Order of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron of
Eastern Star, Charter member of American Legion Auxiliary, and Bethel
Baptist Church of Nocona, TX.
Graveside services were Monday, August 22, 2005 at 2:00
p.m. in Nocona Cemetery with Eastern Star Rites by Nocona Chapter #62
OES, under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home of Nocona.
Survivors include: one grandson; three granddaughters; six
great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Jeanne Johnson...
Jeanne Johnson, 78, passed away Monday, August
21, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
Jeanne was born March 8, 1927 in Jacksboro, TX to John
and Pearl (Eason) Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer
Pentecostal Church.
Funeral services were Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at
10:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Pentecostal Church with Ronnie Tucker and Richard
Moore officiating. White Family Funeral Home directed the service.
Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
Survivors include: one daughter, Geneva D. Moore; son,
Buddy Wright; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; one great
grandchild; one brother; and two sisters.
Thomas William Corcoran...
Thomas William Corcoran, 67, of Saint Jo,
TX, passed away August 18, 2005 at Saint Jo, TX.
He was born April 13, 1938 in Gainesville, TX to John &
Catherine Herr Corcoran. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1963.
He was a diesel mechanic and a mechanic in the Alaskan oil field. He was
a member of St. Mary’s Parish.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m. Monday,
August 22, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gainesville, TX with
Father Don Brennan, O.S.A. McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster, TX directed
the service. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville.
Survivors include: sons, Mike and Steve Corcoran; four
grandchildren; four sisters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; one sister;
and two brothers.
Pallbearers were Chris Metzler, John Corcoran, David
