Manuel “Sonny” Carramao...
“Sonny” Carramao, 49 years old, of
Forestburg, TX, left this life on Tuesday evening, August 2, 2005 during
a motor vehicle accident in Montague, TX.
A memorial service and celebration of his life
gathering will be held at the Montague United Methodist Church on
Wednesday, August 24th at 6 p.m. Pastor Larry Coleman will lead us in
prayer. Please bring a short written memory of your friendship with
Sonny to share at this gathering and to be included in a lasting journal
to be given to his son, Dartagnan.
Sonny was born on May 15, 1956 in New Haven, CT. He was
a graduate of Carlsbad H.S. and Mira Costa College in Oceanside, CA. He
was a member and officer of the DeMoley Fraternity and through his love
of theater and song performed in many plays and choral features. His
personal best was his role in South Pacific, played along side his
fiancee Karen.
He is survived by his 15 year old son, Dartagnan,
father Manuel Carramao II of Carlsbad, CA, sisters Marianne Duran of Las
Vegas, NV; Delores Tanulvich in Oakland, CA and Kathy Fiore of Pasadena,
CA; his brother, Johnny Carramao of Walnut Creek, CA; and his Texas
family of friends.
Sonny was predeceased by his mother, Audrey Joan and
his beloved wife Karen of Vista, CA.
Sonny was employed by Bancroft Trucking Co. in Dallas, TX as a dedicated
truck driver of the U.S. Mail. He prided himself for receiving an award
for achieving one million safe driving miles.
In his leisure time, Sonny enjoyed being a kind and
helpful friend to all. He could often be found singing, joking and
bringing a smile into the hearts of others.
Because of his deep love for humanity and true belief
in spirituality and faith in God, it is requested that in lieu of

Lillie C. Butler...
Mrs. Lillie C. Butler, 84, of Bowie, TX, passed
away August 10, 2005 in Bowie.
Mrs. Butler was born July 14, 1921 in Sarasota, TX. She
married Elton Travis Butler and raised her family in Bellevue, then
moved to Bowie in 1978.
Graveside services for Mrs. Butler were Saturday,
August 13, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Vashti Cemetery, Vashti, TX with her
grandsons, Twain Butler and Luke Bates officiating. Heritage Family
Funeral Home of Bowie directed the service.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kristi Bates of
Bellevue, TX and Karen Cox of Abilene, TX; three sons, Logan McGill of
Abilene, TX, Ole Butler of Bellevue, TX and Mike Butler of El Dorado,
OK; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, Oliver
Simpson of Livingston, TX; one sister, Lois Prudy of TN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Travis
Butler in 1977 and one son, Layton Butler in 1972.
Ryan “Dude” Maas...
Ryan “Dude” Maas, 19, of Saint Jo, TX,
passed away August 11, 2005 at Cooks Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth,
TX.
He was born June 16, 1986 in Houston, TX to Andy and
Debbie VanDenHeuvel Maas.
Funeral services for Dude were on Tuesday, August 16,
2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Saint Jo Church of Christ with Scott Morris
Funeral Home directing the service. Burial followed in the Mountain Park
Cemetery.
Survivors include: his parents, Andy & Debbie Maas of Saint Jo, TX;
siblings Tiffani Ann & Erin Gregg of Kerrville, TX, Jennifer Kristine
“Kristi” & Dustin Wright of Saint Jo, TX; Kimberly Elizabeth “Kim” &
Stephen Hofbauer of Muenster, TX, and Jeffery William Maas of Saint Jo,
TX; nieces and nephews, Kaylee, Blake, Hannah, Paxton and AJ;
grandparents, Jannette Williams and Don & Carol Maas, all of Houston,
TX; great grandparents, May Dee Boggess of Alvord, TX and Mable &
Charlie VanDenHeuvel of CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations
of Teddy Bears, Disney Movies and Bugs Bunny Movies be brought to the
Saint Jo City Hall, where they will be taken and donated to Cooks
Children’s Hospital in Ryan’s memory.
Gaytha Tims Saffold...
A memorial service celebrating and honoring the
life of Gaytha Tims Saffold will be on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at
10:00 a.m. in the Vashti Baptist Church, Vashti, TX.
Gaytha was born November 22, 1946 to Charlie & Addie
Mae Tims in Wichita Falls, TX. She lived her young life in the Vashti
and Bowie area. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1965 and
attended college in Fort Worth and later graduated from The University
of Houston with a Bachelor of Social Services. She married Jack Safford
in June 1981 and they have two children.
Survivors include: her husband, Jack; mother, Addie Mae
Selden, Bowie, TX; son, Charlie Saffold, Texas City, TX; daughter,
Jacqueline Bell, Corryton, TN; two sisters, Loqueita Joy, Dallas, TX,
Bernice Landers, Bridgeport, TX; one brother, Arnold Tims, Midland, TX;
two granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the neurological research
foundation of your choice or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

John Kleiss...
John Kleiss, age 98 of Muenster, TX passed
away August 10, 2005 in Muenster, TX.
Mr. Kleiss was born February 26, 1907 in Muenster, TX
to Mike and Angeline Rohmer Kleiss. He attended Sacred Heart Schools and
worked on the farm all his life until his health prevented further work.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, being baptized as a baby in
1907. He was also a member of the Saint Josephs Society.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, August 12,
2005 at the Sacred Heart Church with John Ohner, O.S.A. officiating.
Burail was at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral
Home in Muenster, TX.
Surviving relatives include: several nieces; and
several nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and
Angeline Kleiss; four sisters, Louise Kleiss, Rosie Walterscheid, Helen
Hofb0.auer, and Sister Aloysia Kleiss; and four brothers, Albert Kleiss,
Anthony Kleiss, Joseph Kleiss and Aloys Kleiss.
Pallbearers included: Mike Kleiss, Eugene Kleiss, Dale
Hofbauer, Dennis Hofbauer, Robert Dale Walterscheid and Conrad
Walterscheid Jr.
Honorary pallbearers include: Leo Lawson, William
