Dora L. Porter, 97, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
She was born March 7, 1907 in Ravenna, Fannin County, TX to James Edward and Delorous (Phillips) Myers. She resided in Bowie since 1979 and was a long-time member of the Bible Baptist Church. Among her greatest joys were traveling, fishing and crafting.
Graveside services for Mrs. Porter were Friday, February 25 at 5:00 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Jones officiating. White Family Funeral Home directed the services.
Survivors include: two sons, Kenneth W. Porter and wife Veda of Bullard, TX and Dr. Wayne W. Porter and wife Shirley of Bowie, TX; three grandchildren, Kathy L. King and husband Pat of San Antonio, TX, Dr. Weston W. Porter and wife Erin of College Station, TX and Dr. Brad W. Porter and wife Thara of Honolulu, HI; three great grandchildren; brother, George W. Myers and wife Inez of Caldwell, ID; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Weldon W. Porter on December 27, 1983.

She was born July 30, 1960 in Bowie, TX.
She is survived by the children of Carol & Jimmy Gilmore, Joshua Gilmore and wife Brandy, Zachary Gilmore, Holly McCarty & husband Mike & Amanda Gilmore all of Bowie. She is also survived by her father and stepmother Edgar & Bertha Starnes of Bowie; two brothers, Steve Starnes of Calisburg, TX and Michael Starnes of Wichita Falls, TX; one sister, Carolyn Fields of Henrietta, TX and five grandchildren.

Ruby B. Kennedy, 89, of Bowie, TX, passed away February 18, 2005 at Bellmire Healthcare Facility in Bowie, TX.
She was born August 11, 1915 in Arkadelphia, AR. On March 3, 1944 she married Robert Kennedy II in Stoneburg, TX. She was a
homemaker and a member of Stoneburg Baptist Church. She was a wonderful, loving supporting wife to her husband, traveling all over in his pursuit of his career as a race horse jockey. Mrs. Kennedy loved to make quilts.
Funeral services were Monday, February 21, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Stoneburg Baptist Church, Stoneburg, TX with Rev. Larry Kennedy officiating. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery, Stoneburg, TX. Fry Funeral Home directed the services.
Survivors include: one son, Bob Kennedy and wife Gloria of
Bowie, TX; one daughter, Ruby Phillips and husband LeeRoy of Bowie, TX; one sister, Kay Taylor of Garland, TX; four grandchildren, Charlene McComb and Evelyn Kennedy, both of Washington, D.C., Nathan and Roy Phillips, both of Bowie, TX; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert E. Kennedy, Jr. in 2001.
Pallbearers were Andy Curry, Milton Taylor, Tolbert Kennedy, Jimmy Gamblin, Scott Kennedy, and Mike Slaton. Chief honorary pallbearer was Pat Kennedy.

Mr. Baker was born August 1, 1965 in Bexar County, TX to Cecil and Edna Nelson Baker. He was a member of the Church of Christ and served in the National Guard.

Ida Barbara (Becker) Hoenig, 89, of Muenster, TX, passed away Friday, February 18, 2005 at Saint Richards Villa in Muenster.
She was born February 10, 1916 in Muenster, TX to the late Felix and Rosa Becker. She was a lifetime resident of Muenster, TX. She married Alphonse Hoenig on December 31, 1941 at Sacred Heart Church. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Parish and a member of Saint Anns Society and Catholic Daughters. Mrs. Hoenig was a homemaker. She had worked as a cook at Muenster Memorial Hospital, and for Muenster Telephone Company. She loved embroidery, making quilts, gardening, canning and cooking.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Muenster with Rev. John Ohner officiating. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. McCoy Funeral Home directed the services.
Survivors include: two sisters, Hilda and Rose Marie Sicking, both of Muenster, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Alphonse; and infant sister Irene and three brothers, Walter, Leo and Vincent Becker.
Pallbearers were Robert Sicking, Donald Sicking, Tom Vogel, Edward Otto, Raymond Hoenig and John Becker.

Grover C. (G.C.) Hamilton, age 66, of Montague, TX passed away February 15, 2005 in Nocona, TX.
Mr. Hamilton was born February 25, 1938 in Montague, TX to Lee and Velva Jewel (Guilliams) Hamilton. He served his country in the United States Air Force and married Wilma Overton on June 26, 1959 in Dallas, TX . He owned and operated Quality Blade Service. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church, member of the Masonic Lodge # 578 in Bowie and served on the board of the Montague School District. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and playing 42.
Funeral services for Mr. Hamilton were held Friday, February 18, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Montague, TX with Dr. Bennie Slack officiating under the direction of White Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Olivia Johnson Yoakum, 80, of Hurst, TX, passed away February 18, 2005 in Hurst.
She was born September 30, 1924 in Rush Springs, OK. On Jume 21, 1943 she married Dallas Yoakum, Sr. in Ft. Smith, AR. They were married 60 years. Mrs. Yoakum was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a longtime resident of Madera, CA, four years in Vernal, UT, a resident of Bowie, TX from July, 2003 to January, 2005, when she moved to Hurst.
Graveside services were Sunday, February 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery, Sunset, TX with Rev. Dwayne Lamberson officiating. Fry Funeral Home of Bowie directed the service.
Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley Norman and husband Robert of Southlake, TX and Patsy Lynn of Fresno, CA; one son, Carl Richard Yoakum and wife Pam of Fresno, CA; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Chester Johnson on Texoma, OK; one sister, Martha Reaves of Bowie, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Dallas Yoakum, Sr. in 2003; one son, Dallas Yoakum, Jr.; and one grandson, Jason Allen Yoakum.
Pallbearers were Jack York, Robie Norman, Jim Holloway, Michael Williams, Jackie Reaves, and Jody Reaves. Honorary pallbearers were Katherine Drennan, Diane York, Robert Norman, Richard Lynn, William Lynn, Julie Curl, Amy Yoakum and Chris Yoakum.

William (Bill) Franklin Richter...
William (Bill) Franklin, age 62, of Muenster, TX passed away February 14, 2005 at his residence in Muenster, TX.
Mr. Richter was born December 28, 1942 in Muenster, TX to Walter and Joaline Needham Richter. He attended Sacred Heart and Muenster Public elementary schools, Gainesville High and Cooke County Jr. College. He worked for Camco Oil Company as a supervisor and had managed their Odessa/Midland operation. He was transferred to the Houston office after suffering a severe accident while working with the company he moved back to Muenster where he lived the remainder of his life. He loved hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, playing pool and playing around with his tractor. He had a deep love for the Muenster people and community and volunteered to help in many functions, He attended a Fire Department related school at Texas A&M and then become Fire Marshal for the Muenster Volunteer Fire Department, the position he currently held until his death. Bills greatest enjoyment was watching his grandchildren open presents on Christmas morning each year.
Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Richter was held Friday, February 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, TX with Rev. Joh Ohner, OSA officiating. Burial followed in Reed Cemetery (Myra area) under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Gina Fowlkes and husband, Mark, Fort Worth, TX, Tracey Richter, Horseshoe Bay; one son, Billy Ricter, Horseshoe Bay and life long companion Brenda Richter, Horseshoe Bay; three grandchildren; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Joaline Richter.
Pallbearers included: Robert D. Walterscheid, Dolphy Joe Hellman, Bert Walterscheid, Hermie Grewing, Tim Walterscheid and Ronnie Herr. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Waltersheid and the members of Muenster Volunteer Fire Department.

Dorothy Marie Straener, age 74, of Bowie, TX passed away in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Straener was born February 19, 1930 in Bowie, TX to Jennings and Gladys (Meade) Garrett. She attended school in Bowie and worked for Lone Star Gas Company for forty-two years in Bowie and Fort Worth. She married Raymond Paul Straener in Miles City, Montana on August 22, 1953. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bowie.
Surviving relatives include: three brothers, Charles Garrett and his wife, Joyce, Paul Garrett and Raymond Garrett, all of Bowie, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, on July 31, 1991.

Patsy Nell Allen, age 70 of Bowie, TX passed away February 15, 2005 in the Bowie Memorial Hospital in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Allen was born November 18, 1934 in Montague, TX to Lional Vernon and Beulah Pearl Guilliams Romine. She married Ray E. “Gene” Allen on November 27, 1952 in Montague, TX. She was a lifetime resident of Bowie, TX, a homemaker and a Baptist.
Funeral services for Mrs. Allen were held Thursday, February 17, 2005 at the Fry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. L.V. Shaw officiating. Interment was at Montague Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Ray E. “Gene” Allen, Bowie, TX; two sons, Ricky Allen and his wife, Robin, Bowie, TX, Doyle Allen, Bowie, TX; two daughters, Patricia Doughty, Gainesville, TX and Martha Patranella, Bowie, TX; one brother, Ray Romine and wife, Martha, Montague, TX; one sister-in-law, Kay Romine; four grandchildren, Rachael Allen, Misty Patranella, Boni Doughty and Terry Patranella; and one great grandchild, Kirsten Allen. She was preceded in death by her father, Lional Vernon Romine and mother, Beulah Pearl (Guilliams) Romine; two brothers, Ronnie Romine and Glen Romine; and two sisters, Petie Graham and Maxine Lemons.

Dorothy Wynelle Smyth Tompkins, age 89 of Bonita Community, TX passed away, February 16, 2005 at the Muenster Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Tompkins was born October 2, 1915 in Crowley, TX to Enoch and Julia Oswalt Smyth. She was raised and attend school in Fort Worth, TX. She later married R.D. Tompkins and they lived most of their lives in Bonita area. She was a homemaker, and accomplished pianist and played for the Bonita Baptist Church for many years where she was a long time member. She and R.D. loved playing golf and painting with oils and pastels. She had a deep faith in her Christ. She enjoyed her child, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tompkins were held Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bonita Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Robertson officiating. Interment was at the Center Point Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo, TX.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Judy Brumley, Ada, OK; two grandchildren, Edward Keeley, Konoawa, OK and Jacqulyn Lee, Clarita, OK; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Keeley, Logan, Weston, Cheyanne and Andrew Lee and Kellie Snow; one sister, Grace Carr, Desoto. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.D. Thomkins, her parents, Enoch and Julia Smyth; three sisters, Ruth Adams, Lois Smyth and Madge Meacham; and five brothers, Bryce, Jim, R.B. and two infants.

Mrs. Hamilton was born February 5, 1918 in Jefferson County, OK to Jep and Adelia Selvidge Wilson. She married DeWayne Hamilton and was a homemaker and a member of the Nocona Church of Christ.
Graveside services were held Sunday, February 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ryan Cemetery in Ryan, OK with Dale Scott officiating. Services under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one sister, Ruth Greene, Fort Worth, TX; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, DeWayne Hamilton, on October 1, 1979; and eight brothers and sisters.
