Burnace “Doc”
Roberts, 83, passed away Friday, January 20, 2006 in Decatur, TX.
Doc was born August 28, 1922 in Charlie, TX to John and
Mary (McCarley) Roberts. He graduated from Bowie High School and
joined the Coast Guard and served in their Mounted Patrol and was a
Sea Dog during his four years of service. He attended Texas A&M
University and graduated in 1951 in veterinary medicine. He opened the
B.H. Roberts Veterinarian Clinic in Bowie and later built Cross
Timbers Veterinary Hospital. He retired from practice in 1996. He was
a member of several civic organizations and a past Bowie school board
member. He enjoyed fishing in Colorado and loved going out to eat with
his friends and meeting new people.
Funeral services were Sunday, January 22, 2006 at 2:00
p.m. at First Baptist Church of Bowie with Bro. Mike Henson
officiating. White Family Funeral Home directed the service.
Burial followed at Hopewell Cemetery.
He is survived by: daughters Cynthia Gamblin and her
husband, Jimmy of Bellevue, TX, Jennifer Blackburn and her husband,
Bill of Plano, TX, Linda Gossett and her husband, John of Newport, TX
and Susan Younger and her husband, Erick of Chico, TX; fourteen
grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Mickey Roberts;
parents John and Mary Roberts and thirteen brothers and sisters.

Shirley Faye Pipkin...
Shirley Faye Pipkin, 60, passed away Friday, January 20, 2006 in
Bowie, TX after a courageous six-month battle with cancer. Throughout
her struggle with this horrible disease, she was brave, kind and
loving to the family and friends who surrounded her.
Shirley was born October 26, 1945 to Odell and Jessie
Mae (Tomerlin) Allen. She loved her family and friends. She loved
animals and throughout her life was passionate about barrel racing and
horses, raising and riding them from the time she was a teenager. She
loved hosting rodeo events at her arena in Keller, shopping,
decorating her home with Southwest art and growing cacti. After
growing up in Fort Worth, Shirley and her husband, Wilson, raised
their family in Keller, TX. For many years, Shirley worked as manager
in the business world in Fort Worth. In the eighties, she and her
husband developed Sunrise Estates, a residential development in
Keller, TX. They eventually retired to Bowie where the two of them ran
a framing shop for several years.
Memorial services were Monday, January 23, 2006 in the
Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home with Larry Cox
officiating. White Family Funeral Home directed the service.
She is survived by: her husband of 31 years, Wilson
Pipkin of Bowie; son, Steve Atkinson and his life partner, Ted Kincaid
of Dallas, TX, son, Kenny Newton of Montague, TX, step-daughter, Laura
Robinson and her husband, Howard of Grapevine, TX, step-son, Wilson
Pipkin and his wife, Jennifer of Landisville, PA, daughter-in-law,
Colleen Newton of Keller, TX; granddaughters, Kaci and Karli Newton of
Keller, TX; step-grandchildren, Madison, Chase, and Hannah Pipkin of
Landisville, PA; other relatives and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Mae
and Odell Allen.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the
Hospice of Rural Texas, 705 Greenwood Ave., Bowie, TX 76230. The
hospice provided excellent care for Shirley in her last weeks.

James Foy Rollins...
James Foy Rollins passed away January 17,
2006.
He was born October 7, 1941 in Tyler, TX to J.A. and
Louise Rollins. Mr. Rollins grew up in Sunset, TX and graduated from
Bowie High School in 1959 and Texas Tech in 1968, where he was a
member of the Epsilon Phi Chapter of Kappa Sigma. Foy loved to travel
and play golf and had countless friends who will miss him dearly.
He is survived by: son, Chris Rollins and wife Betsy;
daughter Amanda “Amy” Rollins; daughter, Mya Jones; son Mike Ramos;
and four grandchildren, Jacob, Samantha, Michael and Morgan
Foy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Freddy White.
A memorial service for Mr. Rollins was held on January
21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wildwood Chapel, Restland Memorial Park,
Dallas, TX. Graveside services will be conducted on January 28, 2006
at 11:00 a.m. Sunset Cemetery, Sunset, TX.

Thomas Lawrence Poteet, age 60, of
Whitesboro, TX, passed away Tuesday, January 17th in Gainesville, TX.
Mr. Poteet was born March 11, 1945 in Roswell, NM to
the late J.T. and Myrtle Greenwood Poteet. He moved to Alvord, TX when
in the 4th grade, where he lived for about 15 years. He was a heavy
equipment operator most of his life, working in the construction
industry.
Funeral services for Mr. Poteet were at 2:00 P.M.
Thursday, January 19, 2006 in the Forestburg Church of Christ with
Loyd Morris officiating. Burial followed in New Harp Cemetery.
Services were directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo.
Survivors include: Sons, Thomas and David Poteet of
Waco, TX; Sisters, Anita Hancock of Alvord, TX and Olita Lanier of
Forestburg, TX; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Jeff Lanier, Tracy Lanier, Wally
Lanier, Samuel Herman, John and James Taylor.

L.E. Trayler, age 88, of Mineral Wells,
TX passed away January 19, 2006 in Mineral Wells, TX.
Mr. Trayler was born January 18, 1918 in Hollis, OK to
Oscar & Mae Hall Trayler. He married Hazel Winton Trayler and was a
member of the Church of Christ. He taught school for thirty-nine
years, teaching in Allison, Forestburg, Antelope and Millsap, TX.
Graveside services for Mr. Trayler were held Saturday,
January 21, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Salona Cemetery with Danny Russell
officiating, under the direction of the Heritage Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Sandra
Smith, Graham, TX and Nelda Hogan, Weatherford, TX; two sons, Phillip
Trayler, Weatherford, TX and Steve Trayler, Mineral Wells, TX;
fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one brother,
Curtis Garrett, Bowie, TX; and one sister, Mildred Cummings, Levelland,
TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mae
Trayler; his wife of sixty-one years, Hazel Trayler; one special mom;
Ione Kinney Trayler; two brothers, Maurice and Bill Trayler; and one
sister, Lottie Bell.

Smith, Scot Smith, Shane Smith, Robert Hogan & Brandon Trayler.

William Max Rice “Taddy Boy” age 75, of
Nocona, TX passed away January 21, 2006 in Nocona, TX.
Mr. Rice was born October 30, 1930 to James Arthur and
Edith O. Clingingsmith Rice. He married Shirlene Priddy.
Funeral service for Mr. Rice was held Tuesday, January
24, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Scott-Morris Chapel with Mike Priddy
officiating. Interment was at the Nocona Cemetery under the direction
of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Shirlene Rice,
Nocona, TX; one son, Robbie Kyle “Bo” Rice, Nocona, TX; one daughter,
Kayla Fisher, Randlett, OK; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers include: Homer Lewis, Steve H. Kirby, Steve
F. Kirby, Mike Hewitt, Jeff Duke and Jerry Admire.

Thomas James Bruce “T.J.” , age 65,
passed away January 21, 2006 in Nocona, TX.
Mr. Bruce was born July 20, 1940 in Kenilworth, UT to
Wesley and Katie Savoni Bruce. He married Gay Lambert and was a member
of the American Legion. He was retired from the United States Coast
Guard, and also retired from Rockwell where he was an Electronics
Instructor.
A private family service is being planned for a later
date.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Gay Bruce,
Nocona, Hills, TX; two daughters, Natalie Bruce, Wylie, TX and Anita
Kim Allan, The Coloney, TX; one son, James Todd, Nocona Hills, TX;
four grandchildren; and one sister, Judy Judd, Granger, UT.
Eula Grace “Mimi” Cain...
Eula Grace “Mimi” Cain, age 93, passed
away at January 19, 2006 in Muenster, TX.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cain, were held Sunday,
January 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Muenster
with Rev. Bill Ledbetter officiating. Interment was at the Resthaven
Cemetery in Gainesville under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of
Muenster.
Mrs. Cain was born June 21, 1912 in Mallard, Texas to
Spencer and Edna Lee McDonald Hogan. She married Richard Bailey Cain
on June 26, 1935.
Surviving relatives are: daughters, LaQueta McCullum of
Dallas, TX, Rita Richey, Muenster, TX, Judy Hartman, Denton, TX,
Sandra Cain and Debbie White both of Winters; one son, Chris Cain,
Muenster, TX; twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-seven
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Naomi
Smith, Gainesville, TX; one brother, Jerry Hogan, Round Rock, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard
“Dick” Cain on April 23, 1967; a son, Richard Wendell “Dickie” Cain;
her parents; four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included: Craig Richey, Troy Cain, Doug
Hartman, Richey Christian, Cory Cain and Cody Trachta.
Honorary Pallbearers were: Todd Richey, Scott Cain,
Kevin Christian, Chad Christian, Chisam Cain, Chase Cain and Chip
White.
Harley Fern Tomlinson...
Harley Fern Tomlinson, 76, passed away Friday,
January 20, 2006 in Bowie, TX.
She was born November 9, 1929 to Nathaniel Elmer and
Judy Racey (Wright) Powell. She married J.C. Tomlinson on March 3,
1948 and together they owned and operated A-1 Well Service for many
years. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing in Branson and
Colorado. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a
fantastic “MeMe.”
Funeral services were Monday, January 23, 2006 in the
Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home with Mike Henson
officiating, under the direction of White Family Funeral Home.
Burial followed at Lindale Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, J.C. Tomlinson of
Bowie, TX; children, Darlene Fry and her husband, Tom, Jimmy Tomlinson
and his wife, Kathy, and Sandy Edwards and her husband, Dennis, all of
Bowie, TX; grandchildren, Cody Fry, Racey Edgett, Kristal Tomlinson,
Stormy Stockard, Justin Tomlinson, Magan Fry, and Ethan Edwards;
great-grandchildren, Taylor and Berkley Fry and Paycee and Ace Edgett;
sister, Glenda Boland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and
Judy Powell and one sister.
