William Ardell Robertson, age 84 of Bowie,
TX passed away June 28, 2005 in Dallas, TX.
Mr. Robertson was born December 3, 1920 in Weinert, TX
to William and Claudia Brown Robertson. He married Mary Katherine
Hammons on November 5, 1944 in Littlefield, TX. He served his country
during World War II in the Coast Guard and was a Commander for the VFW
Post #8789 and the American Legion Post #252.
Funeral Services for Mr. Robertson were held 10:00 a.m. Friday at First
Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Cox officiating under the
direction of the White Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Darla St
John, Runaway Bay, TX; two sons, Mike Robertson and Gregg Robertson,
both of Bowie, TX; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two
brothers, Dencil Robertson, Chehalis, WA and Avis Robertson, Nocona, TX;
one sister, Janice Queener, Hazel Park, MI; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Robert Carroll Fugate...
Robert Carroll Fugate, age 71 of Bowie, TX
passed away July 1, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Fugate was born February 9, 1934 to Albert William
and Helen Kates Fugate. He married Mabel Florence Brink on February 16,
1964.
Graveside services for Mr. Fugate were held July 7,
2005 at Elmwood Cemetery with Jamie Reed officiating under the direction
the White Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: three sons, Randy Fugate,
Wes Fugate and Jeff Fugate, all of Bowie; four grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and sister, Pat Estep, Pampa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and
Helen Fugate; and his wife, Mabel Fugate.
Walter Leo Selden...
Walter Leo Selden, age 93 of Bowie, TX
passed away June 30, 2005 in the Bowie Nursing Center in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Selden was born March 9, 1912 in Chicago, IL. He
was a rigger on ships in California and later had managed a service
station in Bowie, TX. He had resided in Bowie for fifty years.
Funeral services for Mr. Selden were held at the
Heritage Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bowie, TX with Dr. Ronnie Lawson
officiating. Interment was at the Salona Cemetery under the direction of
Heritage Family Funeral Home (formerly Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral
Home) in Bowie, TX.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Addie Mae (Deweber)
Selden; two sons, Wayne Selden, Jacksonville, OR and Wally Selden; four
step children, Loquita Joy, Dallas, TX; Arnold Tims, Midland, TX,
Bernice Landers, Bridgeport, TX and Gaythan Saffold, FL. twelve
grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great-great
grandchild; and two brothers, Leo Selden, Claude, TX and Chester Selden,
Delaware.
James M. Pennington...
James M. Pennington, age 74 of Bowie, TX
passed away June 28, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Pennington was born April 30, 1931 in Oklahoma
City, OK to James Daniel and Leola Fern Walters Pennington. He married
Evelyn London in Fredricksburg, TX. He was retired for the military as
well as the Unisys Corporation.
Graveside services for Mr. Pennington were held
Saturday, June 2, 2005 at the Montague Cemetery with Rev. Ben Wiseman
officiating under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his daughter, Laura Kay
Saunders, Panama City, FL; one son, James Curtis Pennington, Bowie, TX;
and one sister, JoAnn Butler, Wylie, TX.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Pennington
and one daughter Judy Hoop.
John G. Maxwell...
John G. Maxwell, age 95 of Bowie, TX passed
away June 27, 2005 in the Bowie Nursing Center in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Maxwell was born April 8, 1910 in South Bosque, TX. He married Edith
Bibb on February 14, 1934 in Vernon, TX. He was a resident of Bowie for
the past 26 years and a farmer.
Funeral services for Mr. Maxwell were held Thursday,
June 30, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at the Fry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynn
Beck officiating. Interment was at Vashti Cemetery under the direction
of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Edith Maxwell,
Bowie, TX; four daughters, Wanda Nored Pipkin, Bowie, TX; Nelda Riddle,
Italy, TX, Glenda Johnson, Lewisville, TX and Vanita Thomas, Flower
Mound, TX; one son, Stan Maxwell, Vashti, TX; fifteen grandchildren;
nineteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one infant son; and two
grandsons, Larry and Barry Johnson.

passed away June 28, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Houston was born October 13, 1925 in Decatur, TX
to Thomas and Arizona Ware Burns. She worked for Bellmire Health Care
for some twenty years and Casa De Paz Senior Residence for the last
several years as a Medication Aide.
Graveside services for Mrs. Houston were held Tuesday,
July 5, 2005 at 10:00 at Preskitt Cemetery with Dr. Larry Cox
officiating under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Marsha Wood,
Bowie, TX; three grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one
sister, Eva Rhine, Decatur, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darrell Thomas Nelson...
Darrell Thomas Nelson, age 58 of Bowie, TX
passed away July 1, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Nelson was born January 29, 1947 to Arnold Henry
and Flossie Mae Muller Nelson. He served his country in the United
States during Vietnam and Desert Storm. He worked for twenty-five years
at General Dynamics.
Graveside services for Mr. Nelson were held Thursday,
July 7, 2005 at Salona Cemetery with Jamie Reed officiating under the
direction of the White Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two sisters, Patricia
Dixon, Bowie, TX and Debbie Graham, Marietta, OK; two brothers, Arnold
Nelson, Spring Dale, AR and Spencer Nelson, Sunset, TX; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and
Flossie Mae Nelson; one niece, Valarie Price; and great niece, Katlen
Nelson.
Raymond (Ray) Cartwright...
Raymond (Ray) Cartwright, age 79, of Bridgeport, TX
passed away June 29, 2005 in Bridgeport, TX.
Mr. Cartwright was born February 24, 1926 in Big Hill,
OK to Robert James and Fanny Elizabeth Smith Cartwright. He married
Helen Kathleen Day on March 9, 1951 in Blackwell, OK. He was of the
Baptist faith, was in the military from serving as a U.S. Navy Motor
Machinist’s Mate, and was a machinist with Occidental Petroleum.
Funeral services for Mr. Cartwright were held Saturday,
July 2, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport, TX with Rev.
Dick Henning officiating. Interment was at the East Side Cemetery in
Bridgeport, TX under the direction of Heritage Family Funeral Home
(formerly Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home) in Bowie, TX.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Helen
Cartwright, Bridgeport, TX; one son, Mark Cartwright, Wichita Falls, TX;
three daughters, Marcia Kathleen McCown, Dexter, MI; Teresa Gail
Brinkley, Helotes TX and Sue Ann Price, Decatur, TX; nine grandchildren;
two great grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Lee Cartwright and Arron
Mark Cartwright; and three sisters, Evenlyn Abernathy, Beatrice Henry
and Zelia Fay Weston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and
Fanny Cartwright; two brothers, Lawrence Cartwright and Louie
Cartwright; and two sisters, Mabel Cartwright and Jose Cartwright.
Pallbearers included: Mark Cartwright, Stewart Price,
Tim Brinkley, Jim McCown, Roger Cartwright and John Mark Cartwright.
Honorary pallbearers included: Paul Brinkley, Kyle Price and Zack McCown.
