Launa Rucktashel, age82, of Bowie, TX passed away February 27, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
     Mrs. Rucktashel was born November 12, 1922 in Coshocton, OH to John C. and Faerie (Leavengood) Bowen. She married Bill J. Rucktashel on October 13, 1950 and worked as a receptionist for a doctors office for twenty-four years until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bowie and enjoyed reading and working in her flower garden.
     Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagle Point Cemetery with Reverend Sara Hardway officiating under the directions of The White Family Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: her husband of fifty-four years, Bill J. Rucktashel, Bowie, TX; one brother Max J. Bowen and his wife, Rachel, Cambridge, OH; nieces, Marchia Parrish, New Concord, OH and Michele Stoddard, Millersburg OH; nephews, John M. Bowen, Cambridge, OH and Bill Yarbro, Dean Yarbro and Kyle Yarbro, all of Bowie.

 

Jessie Willard Huckabay...
     Jessie Willard Huckaby, age 80-, of Bowie, TX passed away February 25, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
      Mr. Huckabay was born April 19,l 924 in Chickasha, OK to Levi Leo and Sarah (Fulton) Huckabay. He was an auto mechanic for some forty years and enjoyed small engine repair.
     Surviving relatives include: one sister, Laverne Eason, Phoenix, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Valentine Leo “Val” Fuhrmann...
     Valentine Leo “Val” Fuhrmann, age 86 of Muenster, TX passed away February 22, 2005.
     Mr. Fuhrmann was born March 8, 1918 in Lindsay, TX to the late Michael and Mary Moser Fuhrmann. Val grew up and attended school in Lindsay, TX. He married Mary Elizabeth Endres on November 17, 1942 in Sacred Heart Church. He served in the US Army during WWII where he was the recipient of several medals. He and Mary (Girlie) lived in Fort Ord, CA until his transfer to Alaska. Following the wars end, Val and Girlie returned to Muenster where they raised a family of 2 girls and 4 boys.
     Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Fuhrmann was held Friday, February 25, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, TX with Rev. John Ohner, OSA officiating. Burial followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Muenster, TX.
     Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Margie Fisher, Sante Fe, NM and Nanci Dye and husband, John, Carrollton, TX; four sons, Jim Fuhrmann and wife, Carol, Gilmer, TX, Tom Fuhrmann and wife, Gloria, Lindale, TX, Fred Fuhrmann and wife, Denise, Tyler, TX and Bruce Fuhrmann and wife Vianney, Fullerton, CA; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Erwin Fuhrmann, Lindsay, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary on May 9, 1982; his parents, five sisters, Sister Michael Marie, Sister Henry Ann, Veronica Klement, Anna Hartman and Regina Lewis; five brothers, Henry Alois, Johnny, Arnold and Fr. Alois Fuhrmann.
     Pallbearers included: his grandsons, Scott, Greg, Brad and Bryan Fuhrmann and Lance Cpl Brian Lautenslager and Nathan Fisher.

 

Lottie Eveline Grubbs...
    
Lottie Eveline Grubbs, age 79, of Nocona, TX passed away February 21, 2005 in the hospital in Nocona, TX.
     Mrs. Grubbs was born July 12, 1925 in Bibb County, AL to John B. and Clemmie Hester House Moses. She married William H. Grubbs on March 21, 1945 in Tuscaloosa, AL. She was retired from food service as a waitress. 
     Mrs. Grubbs remains were forwarded to Burns Funeral Home in Perry, FL for services. Local services for Mrs. Grubbs were under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: her children, William Tyrone Grubbs, Nocona, TX and John Adrian Grubbs, Haughton, LA; two sisters, Patricia Rienhart, Centerville, AL and Mary Cook, Brent, AL; two brothers, Hilman Moses, Randolph, AL and John Marvin Moses, Centerville, AL.; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Grubbs in February 1999; and two sisters, Doris Stewart and Helen Wallace and one brother, Virgil Moses.

 

Chris (Coon Hunter) Davis...
     Chris (Coon Hunter) Davis, age 18, of Bowie, TX passed away February 24, 2005 in Boyd, TX. 
     Mr. Davis was born January 9, 1987 in Muenster, TX. He was a lifetime resident of Bowie, TX and was a rigger in the oil field industry. He was active in coon hunting, fishing and sports.
     Funeral services for Mr. Davis were held Sunday, February 27, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Bowie, TX with Rev. Ron Abbott officiating. Interment was at Starkey Cemetery between Nocona and Saint Jo, TX under the directions of Fry Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: his mother, Gaylene Davis, Bowie, TX; father, Tommy Davis, Olney, TX; one daughter Landrie Rhea Davis, Bowie, TX; two sisters, Amber Davis and Kayla Davis, both of Bowie, TX; one half-sister, Angelique Davis, Opelousas, LA; one half-brother, Jason Davis, Opelousas, LA: one grandmother, Glenda Davis, Nocona, TX and two uncles, Terry and Jeffery Davis, both of Nocona, TX. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donnie Davis, grandmother, Margery Carter, and three uncles, Jason Davis, Jimmy Carter and Billy Carter.
      Pallbearers included: Daniel Lowery, Josh McDaniel, Josh Hart, Rusty Willingham, James Dominey, Brent Foster, Kevin Foster and Robert (Bubba) Parr. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Betts and Kyle Byas.

 

Alma Christine Pettigrew...
    
Alma Christine Pettigrew, age 81, of Bowie, TX passed away February 27, 2005 in the Bowie, Nursing Center in Bowie, TX. 
     Mrs. Pettigrew was born March 26, 1923 in the Lone Star Community north of Bowie to Frank and Minnie (Mead) Ashton. She married Curtis Andrew Pettigrew on February 24, 1946 in Montague County. She has lived in Bowie since 1959 and was retired seamstress from Bowie Manufacturing.
     Funeral services for Mrs. Pettigrew were held Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Cox officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: two sons, Roger Pettigrew and his wife, Barbara of The Colony, TX and Don Pettigrew and his wife Lynette, Gainesville, TX; four grandchildren, Dana Edwards, Craig Pettigrew, Brandi Gregg and Sara Pettigrew; seven great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Alice Hoeve and Betty Pettigrew of Saint Johns, MI; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Pettigrew; one sister, Sylvia Tice; and four brothers, J.T. Ashton, Raymond L. Ashton, Lawrence E. Ashton and Nelson Ashton.

 

Vernon T. (Tex) Spencer Jr....
    
Vernon T. (Tex) Spencer Jr., age 82, of Bowie, TX passed away February 22, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
     Mr. Spencer was born January 27, 1923 in Blanco, TX to Vernon and Aline Spencer. He married LaJaun Smith on January 27, 2002 in Joy, TX. He worked as a supervisor for Ling Temco Vought Company for thirty-five years until his retirement. He enjoyed ranching and raising Hereford cattle.
     Funeral services for Mr. Spencer were held Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home with Darrell Brown officiating. Interment was at the Sunset Cemetery under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: his wife, LaJuan Spencer; son, Jack W. Spencer and wife, Alison M. Greene, West Lafayette, IN; daughter, JoAnn Wallace and husband John, Garland, TX; stepson, Joe Bob Smith and wife, Frances, Joy, TX; stepdaughter's, Sandy Crawford and husband, Ed, Lubbock, TX, Linda Friedman and husband, Jim, Fort Worth, TX and Diane Wheeler and husband, David, Fort Worth, TX and Rhonda Henry and husband Craig, Beaverton, OR; granddaughter, Emily Spencer and husband Matthew Dickey, Ellicott City, MA; ten step grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.
