Loyd Ashley, Sr....
Loyd Ashley, Sr., 65, of
Antelope, TX, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at his
residence.
Mr. Ashley was born July 17, 1940 in Pecos, TX to George and
Mafalda (Carr) Ashley. He worked as a rancher. Mr. Ashley was a
very talented musician and started singing and playing at the age
of eleven in various bands and later formed the L.A. Express Band.
He was a country and western entertainer and continued playing and
singing for the rest of his life. He was loved by his many loyal
fans. He was a member of the Pleasant Mound Freewill Baptist
Church in Buffalo Springs, TX.
Funeral services were Sunday, November 13, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at
the Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Henrietta, TX with Rev. Jamie
Reed, officiating. Burial followed in the Antelope Cemetery,
Antelope, TX under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of
Henrietta.
Survivors include: one son, Marion Loyd Ashley, Jr. of Miami, FL;
three daughters, Lisa Barkes of Terral, OK, Terresa Wines of
Bluegrove, TX and Carol Ann Johnson of Bowie, TX; one brother,
Tommy Ashley and wife Shirley of DeLeon, TX; one sister, Jeanne
Daniels and husband Charlie of Wichita Falls, TX; eight
grandchildren, Hillary Henry, Holly Ashley, Vanna Eaton, Clay
Barkes, Ben and Jessica Nunn, Seth and Emily Johnson; and several
nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ashley was preceded in death by his father, George Ashley and
mother, Mafalda Wilson in 2002.
Pallbearers were David Yoder, Mike Castle, Brady Bowen, Ronnie
Burleson, Lace Barry, Jimmy Hatfield, Joe Bob Smith and Morris
Castle. Honorary pallbearers were Ben Nunn, Seth Johnson, Clay
Barkes, Steve Ashley, Jeff Ashley and Rodney Moore.
Philip Ray Shoemaker...
Philip Ray Shoemaker, 47, passed away
Saturday, November 12, 2005.
Philip was born July 24, 1958 in Wichita Falls, TX to
Kenneth W. and Jane (Orton) Shoemaker. He worked as a correctional
officer at the Global Expertise Outsourcing Bridgeport Unit
Correctional Facility. He enjoyed hunting and motorcycling and was
an active member of the Demolay. He was a loving son, brother and
uncle and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services were on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at
2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Bellevue, TX with
Lewis Ray Sleeth and Dale Webster officiating, under the direction
of the White Family Funeral Home. Burial followed in Bellevue
Cemetery.
He is survived by: his mother, Jane Shoemaker of Bowie, TX;
brother, Randy Shoemaker and his wife Jan of Vernon, TX; sister,
Renee Lanford of Humble, TX; nephews, Jered and Scott Shoemaker of
Vernon, TX; niece Katie Lanford of Humble, TX; and numerous aunts,
uncles and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth W. Shoemaker and
his brother, Steven Wayne Shoemaker.
Pallbearers were Gary Griswold, Wade Brown, Jases
Brown, Doug Cox, Ronnie Erwin and Clay Robertson.

Randall Lowrie Swearingen, 80, of
Tyler, TX, passed away November 7, 2005 in Tyler, TX.
He was born May 26, 1925 in Belcherville, TX to McCormick and
Florence May Lowrie Swearingen. On December 5, 1953 he married
Bobbie Uselton. He was a farmer, a gas station owner and served in
the U.S. Army.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at
the First Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Hilburn & Rev. Lamoin
Champ officiating. Scott Morris Funeral Home directed the
services. Burial followed in Belecherville Cemetery.
Survivors include: his wife, Bobbie Swearingen of Tyler, TX; one
daughter, Le Laroi; two sons, Larry Wayne and Randy Lynn
Swearingen; one brother; four grandchildren; five gret
grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Pallbearers were Dewayne Anderson, Clarence Anderson, Clay
Dudenhoeffer, Lonnie Sappington, Tommy Sappington and Steve Kirby,

Frankie Lee Johnson...
Frankie Lee Johnson, 70, of Forestburg, TX, passed
away November 10, 2005 in Fort Worth, TX.
She was born August 27, 1935 in Dye Mound, TX to Norman
& Ruby Johnson. She married Bobby Johnson on March 15, 1952 in
Nocona, TX. Mrs. Johnson lived in the Forestburg area all her life
and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Funeral services were Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 2:00
p.m. at the Church of Christ in Forestburg, TX with Sonny Cole
officiating. Burial followed in Perryman Cemetery under the
direction of Heritage Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Survivors include: her husband, Bobby Johnson of
Forestburg, TX; two sons, Gary and Glynn Johnson, both of
Forestburg, TX; two sisters; three brothers; four grandchildren;
one great granddaughter; and one great grandson; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother;
and two sisters.
Pallbearers were Richard Holley, Garrett Johnson, Lance Johnson,
Wesley Jackson, Rusty Jackson, Sonny Cross.
Ethel Dalton...
Ethel Dalton, 96, a Bowie, TX
resident since 1964, passed away November 13, 2005 in Bowie.
She was born April 27, 1909 in Montague, TX to Mack &
Lizzie (Stephens) Hize. On March 28, 1924 she married J.W. Dalton
in Vernon, TX. Mrs. Dalton was a member of Jehovah Witness Church
and a homemaker.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 17, 2005 at
3:00 p.m. at Heritage Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will
follow in Montague Cemetery, under the direction of Heritage
Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Survivors include: one son, Hershal Dalton of Oxnard,
CA; one daughter, Minnie Duchaine of Bowie, TX; four sisters;
eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and four
great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; her parents; one son;
one daughter; two sisters; five brothers; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
Weldon O’Neal...
Weldon O’Neal, 83, of Nocona, TX,
passed away November 14, 2005 in Nocona.
He was born November 11, 1922 in Spanish Fort, TX to
Lee Roy and Leona May Scruggs O’Neal. On April 26, 1954 he married
Jewel Pigg. He was a member of the board of the Spanish Fort Coon
Hunters Club.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at
3:00 p.m. at Abundant Life Church with Rev. Rod Messer
officiating. Burial followed in the Spanish Fort Cemetery, under
the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home of Nocona.
Survivors include: his wife, Jewel O’Neal of Nocona,
TX; children, Randall O’Neal, Joneel Cantu and Ricky O’Neal, all
of Nocona, TX; one sister, Burtris Hawkins of Nocona, TX; eleven
grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were nephews and honorary pallbearers were
grandchildren.
Marguerite Oklahoma Holcomb “Grand
Dee”...
Marguerite Oklahoma Holcomb “Grand Dee”, 97, of Nocona,
TX, passed away November 13, 2005 in Nocona.
She was born in Indian Territory near Headrick, OK on
November 11, 1907 to Jim and Lena Cornelius Grimes. She was a life
long member of the First United Methodist Church and the Nocona
Hills Community Church. Mrs. Holcomb enjoyed doing for others.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at
1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Nocona with Rev.
Joseph Jernigan, Rev. Shelly McNew and Rev. Larry Kruger
officiating. Burial followed in Nocona Cemetery under the
direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
Survivors include: a son, Dwight of Nocona, TX; one sister;
four grandsons; and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Cecil Matheson, Don Sewell, Lynn Adams,
Robert Fenoglio, David McNew and Condall Lowrie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First
United Methodist Church and to the Nocona Hills Community Church.
Johnnie Lucille Ward...
Johnnie Lucille Ward, 84, passed away Sunday,
November 13, 2005 in Bridgeport, TX.
She was born June 12, 1921 in Longview to Arthur and
Martha (Wells) Robertson. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting
and sewing.
Graveside services for Mrs. Ward were Wednesday,
November 16, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville,
TX. The White Family Funeral Home directed the service.
Survivors include: one daughter, Alma Moore of Dallas,
TX; one son, William B. Laine, Jr. of Gainesville, TX;
stepchildren, Henry Sam Ward, Jr. of Gainesville, TX and Johnnie
Ruth Ward of Muenster, TX; one son-in-law; twelve grandchildren;
and several great grandchildren.
Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her parents, a
daughter, Cassie Jones, one son, Jerry Wayne Ward and her husband,
Henry Sam Ward. |
