Evert
Ronald "Yankee" Quimby, 78, passed away Monday, October 24, 2005 in
Bowie.
Funeral Services were held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at
Central Baptist Church with Pastor Paul A. Henderson officiating under
the direction of the White Family Funeral Home.
Interment followed at Elmwood Cemetery.
Evert was born August 25, 1927 in Hines,
Minnesota to Walter and Blanche (Kelly) Quimby. He married Frances
Johnson on November 4, 1950 and moved to Bowie in 1957. He served in
the United States Navy. He was employed in the oilfield with Richey
Drilling Company as an operation superintendent for many years until
his retirement in 1993. He was a member of Central Baptist Church
since 1970.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl
and Roy Quimby; sisters, Ruth Enstrom, Doris Carney and Olive Gorman.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Quimby of Bowie;
daughter, Ronna Huckaby and her husband, Billy of Walnut Springs,
Texas; sisters, Dorothy Brooks of Hines, Minnesota, Wisconsin and
Beulah Peterson of Cross Lake, Minnesota; brothers, Ersie Quimby of
Wilmar, Minnesota, Don Quimby of Circle Pines, Minnesota; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Ernest Oliver Moore...
Ernest Oliver Moore, age 58, of
Forestburg, TX passed away October 20 in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Moore was born July 15, 1947 in Decatur, TX to
Oliver and Pauline Mattie Freeman Webster. He married Judy White on
May 15, 1970 in Forestburg and worked as an Aircraft Inspector for
General Dynamics. He served his country in the United States Marine
Corp during Vietnam and was a member of the VFW in Bowie.
Funeral services for Mr. Moore were held Sunday,
October 23, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Drawing Room of the White Family
Funeral Home with Morris Freeman officiating. Interment was at New
Harp Cemetery in Forestburg under the direction of The White Family
Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Judy Moore,
Forestburg, TX; his children, Tracy Moore, Wichita Falls, TX and Micki
Russell, Bowie, TX; two grandchildren; his mother, Pauline Clark,
Bowie, TX; three sisters, Margaret Hunt, Bowie, TX, Connie Browning,
Crafton, TX, and Gail Robinson, Bowie, TX; one brother, Paul Moore,
Borger, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included: Keith Dill, Kody Dill, Charles
Dill, Terry Harris, Dennis Freeman and Jay White.
Jeff Taylor...
Jeff Taylor, 80, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Taylor was born October 11, 1925 to Jefferson Lynn and Jo Addie
(Johnston) Taylor in Roswell, NM. He married Norma Jean Rogers on
August 20, 1952 in Bowie, TX. He served his country in the Army Air
Corps during WWII and served on the Bowie City Council and was
owner/operator of Jeff Taylor’s Mud Service in Bowie for many years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bowie as a deacon, trustee
and chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee and a member of the
Long Range Planning Committee. He was one of the teachers of the
Gideon Sunday School Class and volunteered at the Bowie Mission. His
joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by: his wife, Jean Taylor of Bowie, TX; children,
Vickie Knowles of Arlington, TX, Jeff Taylor and his wife, Wilma of
Irvine, CA, Joe Taylor and his wife, Julie of Reno, NV, and Julie
Johnson and her husband, Jim of Wichita Falls, TX; ten grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren; and a host of loved ones and friends.

Gerald C.
Ingram, age 63, of Bowie, TX passed away October 19, 2005 in Bowie, TX
Mr. Ingram was born December 26, 1941 in Bowie, TX to
John and Marie Dennis Ingram. During high school he was the 1958
Golden Gloves Boxing Champion and was on the 1959 Regional Champion
Bowie High Cross Country Track Team. He served in the United States
Navy during the Vietnam War and retired after twenty years of service.
Graveside servies with Military Honors will be held Friday,
October 28, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery with Dr. Larry Cox
officiating under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Marissa Ingram and Theresa
Melton; two grandchildren, Jimmy Gerald Melton and Melissa Melton; two
brothers, Norman Ingram and his wife, Marie, Bowie, TX and Bobby
Ingram and his wife, Carolyn, Jacksonville, TX; and his first wife,
Emmy Ingram-Youngberg, San Diego, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three
brothers, Sherrel I., Freddy Wayne and James Edward Ingram.
Venta Lou Liggett...
Venta Lou Liggett, 79, of Vashti, Texas,
passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2005 in Bowie, Texas.
Funeral services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, October
25, 2005 at the Vashti Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Fletcher, pastor
officiating. Burial was in the Vashti, TX cemetery under the direction
of Davis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Liggett was born July 28, 1926 in Loving, TX to
Joseph E. (Bert) and Ola (Herring) Moore. She married Rdell Liggett on
June 21, 1945. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Mound
Freewill Baptist Church in Buffalo Springs, TX but had been the
Pianist for the Vashti Baptist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rdell on
November 19, 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth and his wife Sandra
of Vashti, TX and Elwyn Liggett of Vashti, TX; one daughter Nancy
Butler and her husband Ole of Vashti, TX; eleven grandchildren, Brad,
Sonya, Kendra, Cassandra, Alena, Deidra, Lance, Marlena, Twyla, Twain
and Tammara; nineteen great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to either the Bellevue or Vashti
Baptist Churches or the Bellevue Ex-Students association.
Helen Ernestine Fraser..
Helen Ernestine Fraser, 63, of Fort Worth, TX,
passed away in Fort Worth on October 20, 2005.
She was born October 11, 1942 in Taft, TX to James & Leola
Rowley. On August 12, 1993 she married Tommie Fraser in Rockwall, TX.
Mrs. Fraser was a homemaker and a member of Four Square Gospel Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fraser were Monday, October 24,
2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Family Funeral Home of Bowie, TX with
Rev. Mark Parks officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
Survivors include: her husband, Tommie Fraser of Arlington,
TX; one son, Jimmy Thornhill of Bennington, KS; two daughters, Janet
Williams and Kathy Thornhill, both of Springtown, TX; several sisters
and brothers; and seven grandchildren.
Frieda Duke...
Frieda Duke, 69 of Vashti, Texas, went to
be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 22, 2005.
Graveside Services where held at 10:00 am, Monday,
October 24, 2005 in the Liberty Cemetery, Clay County, Texas, with
Rev. Greg Fletcher, pastor of the Vashti Baptist Church, officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in
Henrietta, Texas.
Mrs. Duke was born on November 9, 1935 in Clear
Water, Florida to Howard Burton and Lois ElFrieda (Williams) Kearney.
She married Oscar E. Duke on August 28, 1964 in Bosque Farms, New
Mexico. Mrs. Duke was well known throughout the community for her
weekly article she wrote for Vashti in the Clay County Leader. She was
a devoted Christian and friend to everyone in the Vashti Community.
She was a active member of the Vashti Baptist Church in Vashti, Texas
where she played a huge part in all church activities. Mrs. Duke was a
strong and faithful servant to her Lord and Savior till the very end.
Survivors include two special friends, Lillian
Kerr of North Carolina and Dot Reagan of Henrietta, Texas.
Geraldine M. Thompson...
Geraldine M. Thompson, age 85 of Alvord,
TX passed away October 19, 2005 in Decatur, TX.
Mrs. Thompson was born October 9, 1920 in Alvord, TX.
She graduated from Park Springs High School and married Harold
Thompson in Wise County.
Funeral service for Mrs. Thompson were held Saturday,
October 22, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Darius McKay officiating.
Interment was at Cumby Cemetery in Park Springs, TX
under the direction of Heritage Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Jerry Thompson,
Alvord, TX; one sister, Bobby Jett, Bowie, TX; and 2 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold
