Jerry Whitaker...
     Jerry Whitaker, 70, of Bowie, TX, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
     Mr. Whitaker was born November 9, 1934 in Fort Worth, TX to Martin and Roxie Day (Arnold) Whitaker. He married Dorothy Ann Williams on September 12, 1961. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a residential painter. He was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church.
     Funeral services were Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church with Rev. Greg Newton and L.C. Smith officiating, under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
     Survivors include: his children, Gary Whitaker of Saint Jo, TX, Kay Maxwell and Sherry Dorman, both of Bowie, TX; one brother; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two nephews; and numerous cousins and friends.
     Pallbearers were Ricky Whitaker, Mike Whitaker, John McShan, Ted Winn, Curtis Wells, Eddie Ulbig.
     Honorary pallbearers were Nathan Whitaker, Jason Whitaker and Jeffery Whitaker currently serving in Germany and Iraq and Dustin Maxwell.

 

Gary Minyard...
     Gary Minyard, age 46 of Bowie, TX, passed away October 9, 2005 in Fort Worth, TX.
     Mr. Minyard was born March 1, 1959 in Lockney, TX to Travis Lee and Rene Lorene Minyard. He marred Rhonda Bufkin on March 16, 1986 in Lamesa, TX. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Bowie, TX and was a vice president of IAMAW and chief steward for the Union. He was employed by Lockheed for five years and worked at Menasco form 1986 to 2000.
     Funeral services for Mr. Minyard were held Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. John Robles and Jerry Wilkins officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of the Heritage Family Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: his wife, Rhonda Minyard, Bowie, TX; three sons, Kyle Minyard, Bowie, TX and Gary Lynn and Jason Lee Minyard, both of Lubbock, TX; one daughter, Jennifer DeAnn Minyard, Lubbock, TX; four grandchildren; mother, Rena Lorene Minyard; one brother, Jesse Minyard, Odessa, TX; and two sisters, Glenda Dyer, Brownfield, TX and Helen Grimes, Snyder, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Travis Lee Minyard.

 

Mabel P. Tucker...
     Mabel P. Tucker, age 91, of Nocona, TX, passed away October 10, 2005 in Nocona, TX.
     Mrs. Tucker was born May 14, 1914 in Bonita, TX to Walter W. and Annie B. Gregory Price. She was a member of the Spanish Fort Methodist Church, Altar Guild and was the Church pianist. She was a member of the Nocona Eastern Star and worked as a Librarian for Prairie Valley and then at the Nocona Library, where she retired at the age of eighty years.
     Funeral services for Mrs. Tucker were held Thursday, October 13, 2005 at the First United Church with Rev. Larry Kruger and Rev. Ed Millican officiating. Interment was at the Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Carol Hinton, Nocona, TX and Barbara Kelly, Mt Springs; one son, W.R. Tucker, Jr., Nocona, TX; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Lady Evelyn Cook...
    
Lady Evelyn Cook, 73, of Nocona, TX, passed away October 14, 2005 in Dallas, TX.
     Mrs. Cook was born May 26, 1932 in Nocona, TX to George Washington and Mary Ann Roper Wilson. She worked at Nocona Belt Company and Justin Leather Goods. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church.
     Funeral services for Mrs. Cook were Monday, October 17, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home. Burial followed in Long Branch Cemetery.
     Survivors include: one daughter, Shirley Jean Cooper; one son, Wayne Cook; one sister, Roene McQueary; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

 

Andrew Anthony Mirlocca...
    
Andrew Anthony Mirlocca, age 85 of Bowie, TX passed away October 11, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Mirlocca was born June 16, 1920 in Somerville, MA.
      Funeral services for Mr. Mirlocca were held Friday, October 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Jerome’s Catholic Church with Father Steven Berg officiating. Services under the direction of Heritage Family Funeral Home.
     Surviving relatives include: his wife, Vivian Mirlocca, Bowie, TX; one daughter, Barbara Ann Mirlocca, Wakefield, MA; two step sons, Bill McCArvell, Bowie, TX and Paul McCarvell, Iowa Park, TX; three step daughters, Sharon Ward, Weymouth, MA, Doll Vanderhorn, Richwood,WV and Rosemary O’Neil, Moultonboro, NH; thirteen grandchilren; twenty-two great grandchildren; three brothers, Marc Mirlocca, Medford, MA, Joseph Mirlocca, Lake Worth, FL and Salvi Mirlocca, Dedham, MA; one sister, Louise Rosetti.

 

Amos John Belden...
     Amos John Belden Jr., age 80 of Bowie, TX passed away October 12, 2005 in Bowie, TX.
     Mr. Belden was born July 22, 1925 to Amos John and Mavis Driscoll Belden. He married Frances Shoun on October 5, 1954 in Jacksboro, TX. He retired from Bowie Independent School District in 1984 after teaching fifth grade for twenty-two years. He sang with the Tulsa Opera in several musicians and sang for various churches. He was a member of the Gamma Theta Chapter Sinfoia Fraternity of America. He was known as the “Candy Man” selling peanut patties and brittle for twenty-six years at Trade Days and to private people in the area.
     Funeral services for Mr. Belden were held Friday, October 14, 2005 at First Christian Church in Bowie with Danny Laws and Clyde Markee officiating. Interment was at Mountain Home Cemetery in Senate, TX under the direction of The White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, TX.
     Surviving relatives include: his wife of fifty-one years, Frances Belden; two sons, John Thomas Belden, Galveston, TX and Andrew David Belden, Bowie, TX; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers included: Mike Ward, Tim Winn, Gary Rainwater, Matthew Ward, Alan Miller and David Rogers.
     Honorary pallbearers included: E.O. Martin, Jake Jordan and Junior Bess.
