Nellie Eunice Haigood...
Nellie Eunice Haigood, 92, of Bowie, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2006 in Bowie.
Nell was born April 4, 1914 in Bluegrove, TX to J.J. and Delila P. (Fox) Langford. She married Ewell Lee Haigood on September 12, 1932 in Waurika, OK. They moved to Bowie in 1957 and owned Haigood Variety Stores in Wichita Falls and Bowie until the closing in 1980. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bowie and could be found on the front row of the choir every Sunday. Nell served as the secretary and treasurer of Esther Sunday School Class and the Energetics Club at First Baptist Church. She also served on the benevolent committee. Nell was a member of the Jim Bowie Saddle Club from 1965 until 2000. She was a former director of Jim Bowie Days Celebration and former Jim Bowie Days Queen. She was awarded the Bowie Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year award. Nell was past president of the AARP Bowie Chapter and was very active in the Bowie Senior Citizens organization as leader and organizer of the Smiling Senior Kitchen Band. She served as treasurer and on the Board of Directors of the Silver Strings.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Bowie with Rev. Mike Henson and Rev. Ben Wiseman officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
She is survived by: her daughter, Karen Ann Lambert and her husband, Wayland of Bowie; two grandchildren, Sandy Page and her husband, Doug of Bowie and Greg Lambert of Sunset, TX; eight great-grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; and one sister, Hazel Patterson. Paid publication

Johnie William Uselton...
Johnie William Uselton, 92, of Nocona, TX, passed away December 4, 2006 in Bowie, TX.
He was born March 31, 1914 in Bonita, TX to Robert Thomas and Mattie Jane Painter Uselton. On January 2, 1934 he married Thelma Jean Taylor. She preceded him in death. Mr. Uselton was a farmer/rancher and an oil field roustabout. He was a member of Jean’s Mens Bible Class.
Funeral services were Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Jean’s Mens Bible Class in Nocona with Rev. Buddy Lee and Rev. Dave Woodbury officiating. Burial followed in Nocona Cemetery. Jerry Woods Funeral Home directed the service.
Survivors include: two daughters, Bobbie Swearingen of Tyler, TX and Mickey Sullivan of Nocona, TX; two sons, Jerry Don Uselton and Jackie W. Uselton, both of Nocona, TX; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bill McCracken, Donnie Taylor, Lynn Martin, Phil Kincey, Bill Skinner, Richard Haralson and Sam Howard. Honorary pallbearers were members of Jean’s Mens Bible Class.

Loretta Rose Lueb Wimmer...
Loretta Rose Lueb Wimmer, 89, of Muenster, TX, passed away Friday, December 8, 2006 in Denton, TX
She was born September 26, 1917 to Henry and Mary Lueb in Ardmore, OK. On November 17, 1936 she married Joseph Wimmer in Dallas, TX. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, St. Ann’s Society, and Snapp and Love Group. She enjoyed life, loved her family and did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church in Muenster with Rev. Pat Murphy officiating. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.
Survivors include: daughters, Ruby Otto of Arlington, TX, Jacquelyn Riddle of Mesquite, TX, Della Hellman of Muenster, TX; sons, Jerry Wimmer of Gainesville, Charles Wimmer of Edmond, OK and Ray Wimmer of Denton, TX; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; three sisters; and one brother.
She was preceded in death by: her husband in 1986; one grandson; three sisters; and two brothers.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Marlin, Monte, Stanley and Lance Wimmer, Damian and Jeff Hellman and Jason and Brandon Hanna.

Oleta Marie Henley Sawyer...
Oleta Marie Henley Sawyer, 79, of Nocona, TX passed away December 3, 2006 in Wichita Falls, TX.
She was born in Capps Corner, TX on February 12, 1927 to Benjamin Holbert and Myrtle Dill Henley. On August 28, 1945 Oleta married Roger Sawyer. Oleta had worked as an Insurance Agent and was the Co-Owner of Sawyer Insurance Agency.
Services were Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Nocona with Reverend Merwin Turner and Reverend Larry Kruger officiating. Interment followed in the Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home of Nocona.
Oleta is survived by: husband, Roger Sawyer of Nocona; daughter, Barbara Yeargin and husband Richard of Colleyville, TX; two sons, Warren Sawyer of Dickerson, TX and Phillip Sawyer and wife Sandra of Kingwood, TX; six grandchildren, Hayes & wife Cindy, Heath & wife Brissa, Adam, Nick, Randilyn and Reece; and two great grandchildren, Gabriella and Olivia.

Reba Joyce Cox, 76, of Poteau, OK, passed away December 5, 2006 in Poteau.
She was born June 19, 1930 in Nocona, TX to Jesse and Beatrice McNew Murphy. On December 2, 1949 she married Bobby Lee Cox. He preceded her in death in 1987. She was a housewife. and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Bowie, TX.
Graveside services were Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Nocona Cemetery, Nocona, TX with Rev. L.C. Smith officiating. Jerry Woods Funeral Home of Nocona directed the service.
Survivors include: two daughters, Beverly Joyce Turner of Poteau and Kathryn Lee Bell of Cottonwood, AZ; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, two grandchildren and two sisters.

Edna Mae Goodrum Hartley....
Edna Mae Goodrum Hartley, 93, went to be with the Lord December 11, 2006 in Bowie, TX.
She was born June 29, 1913 to Henry and Claude Dixon in Florida. She worked as a seamstress for a portion of her life in addition to being a homemaker for her family. Edna enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and spending time with her family. In her community, she volunteered for many years with the Meals on Wheels program through the Bowie Senior Citizen project and played in the Senior Citizen Band for many joyous years. Edna was a loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother. “Nana” and frined, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Edna is survived by: her children, Henry A. Solano of Bowie, TX, Lillian Josephine Justice of Florida, Marie Hocutt and husband Bill of Ponder, TX, Pat Chandler and Dr. E.R. Chandler of Bowie, TX, Mary Case of Bowie, TX and Clifton Goodrum of Gunter, TX. She was blessed with twenty-three grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, sister, two brothers and daughter, Christine Goodrum of Bowie, TX.

Darline Goodspeed, 89, of Wichita Falls, TX, passed away on December 6, 2006 in Wichita Falls.
She was born October 13, 1917 in Bonita, TX to A.P. and Mary Jane McMillan Howard. On November 19, 1937 she married Jack Goodspeed. He preceded her in death in 1996. Mrs. Goodspeed was a housewife and mother. She worked as a machine operator for Nocona Boot Co.
Funeral services were Friday, December 8, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Nocona, TX with Rev. Ron Fox. Jerry Woods Funeral Home of Nocona directed the service.
Burial followed in the Nocona Cemetery.
She is survived by: her children, Jacqueline Taylor of Corpus Christi, TX and Glenice Barnett of Wichita Falls, TX; one sister, Mozelle Humble of Nocona, TX; one brother, Jody Howard of Nocona, TX; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one grandson.
Pallbearers were Jack Brooks, Dan Howard, Ronnie Howard, Ben Howard, Ed Howard, Dan Howard, Jim Simpkins, Roger Simpkins, Sam Howard and Toby Howard.

Hildegarde Theresa Swirczynski...
Hildegarde Theresa Swirczynski, 87 of Muenster, TX, passed away December 9th at Saint Richards Villa.
She was born April 11, 1919 in Muenster to Frank J. and Mayme Grewing Trubenbach. She married Robert Joseph Swirczynski on June 19, 1939 in Sacred Heart Church and lived most of her life in Muenster. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She did volunteer work for the church and later in life worked in the school cafeteria.
Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Swirczynski was on Monday, December 11, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Pat Murphy officiating. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Church, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.
Survivors include: daughters, Sonja Swirczynski of Muenster, Jill Kralick of Colleyville; sons, Ray Franklin Swirczynski of Stavanger, Norway and Kevin Swirczynski of Greenville, TX; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Travis and Robert Kralicke, Blake and Darrell Swirczynski, Scott Yowell and John Metzler.
