Romana Bayer...
Romana Bayer, 97, a lifetime resident of Muenster, TX, passed away Monday, March 13, 2006 in a Gainesville, TX hospital.
She was born October 23, 1908 in Muenster, TX to John and Susanna Trachta Walter. On April 24, 1928 she married Frank Bayer in the Sacred Heart Church. She helped her husband farm and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Bayer was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, St. Anne’s Society, 3rd Order of St. Francis and was the last surviving member of Gold Star Mother.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. John Ohner, O.S.A., officiating. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Survivors include: sons, James, Randy and Regi Bayer; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; and four sisters.
Mrs. Bayer was preceded in death by her husband, one son, her parents, four brothers, one sister; and six grandchildren.

“Slim” Arvil Maxie Ayers...
“Slim” Arvil Maxie Ayers, of Nocona, TX, passed away March 8, 2006 in the Nocona Nursing Home.
He was born June 6, 1915 in Salona, TX to Wallace and Lou Ayers. Mr. Ayers was an avid fisherman and a strong believer in the Bibile.
No services were announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity. Scott Morris Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Survivors include: four children, Sarah Lemon of Nocona, TX, John Ayers of Bowie, TX, Ryan Ayers of Port Lavaca, TX and Bob Ayers of Denton, TX; three step sons, Vernon, Keith and Glen of South TX; eight grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

Kenneth Palmer...
Kenneth Palmer, 62, of Bowie, TX, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006 in Wichita Falls, TX.
Kenneth was born October 20, 1943 in Bowie, TX to Osmer and Maudie (Catlin) Palmer. He married Nelda Parker on April 17, 1964. He worked as a contract pumper for various oil companies. He was a great dad and loved being with his family.
Graveside services for Mr. Palmer were Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Newport Cemetery with Dwayne Lamberson officiating. White Family Funeral Home of Bowie directed the service.
He is survived by one son, Justin Palmer of Bowie, TX; one sister, Frances Palmer and family of Bowie, TX.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Nelda Palmer; and one sister, Eula Mae Woods.

Rubin Ray Underwood...
Rubin Ray Underwood, 83, of Nocona, TX, passed away March 13, 2006 in Nocona.
He was born July 17, 1922 in Nocona, TX to Tack Russell and Nina Carrie Fowler Underwood. He married Evie Fancher and was retired from the oilfields Mr. Underwood was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Funeral services were Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with C.E. Russell officiating. Burial followed in the Mountain Park Cemetery, Saint Jo, TX, under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home.
Survivors include: one son, Bobby Joe Underwood, Sr.; three sisters, Patsy Baker, Marynell Molsbee, Doris Maxey; two brothers, Doyle and Wilton Underwood; ten grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Rubin Waggoner, Rusty Waggoner, Smokey Waggoner, Bobby Underwood, Jr., Rubin Underwood and Jesse Hood.

Ruth (Juicey) Hamilton...
Ruth (Juicey) Hamilton, 90, of Nocona, TX, passed away March 18, 2006 in Nocona.
She was born March 13, 1916 in Ringgold, TX to Roy and Grace Woolsey Hamilton. Ms. Hamilton was a secretary for the Nocona ISD. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ringgold, and Secretary of the Ringgold Cemetery Association and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Ringgold Baptist Church with Rev. Eldon Johnson officiating. Jerry Woods Funeral Home of Nocona directed the service.
Burial followed in Ringgold Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Wayne (Dit) Hamilton.
Pallbearers were Phil Staley, Gil Staley, Joe A. Staley, Larry Fenoglio, Bryan Staley, Clint Staley, Chance Fenoglio and Darrel Fuller.

Bobby Joe “Joey” Tompkins, Jr...
Bobby Joe “Joey” Tompkins, Jr,, 43, of Muenster, TX, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2006 in Decatur, TX.
He was born January 18, 1963 in Bowie, TX. He graduated from Saint Jo High School, where he was an outstanding athlete in all sports. Mr. Tompkins was employed with different compannies in the oilfield, and worked for Felderhoff Brothers at the time of his death. He had a big heart, loved his family and loved life.
Funeral services were Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the McCoy Funeral Chapel with Dr. Larry Cox officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery in Cooke County. Services were under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.
Survivors include: daughter, Mariah Baylie Tompkins of Gainesville, TX; four sons, Bobby Joe III, Bryan, Sony and Cody Tompkins; his mother, Helen Marie Tompkins of Muenster, his father, Bobby Joe Tompkins, Sr. of Bowie; one sister, Sabra Robertson of Bowie, TX; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Mike Tompkins, sister-in-law, Kay Tompkins and niece Jessica Tompkins.
Pallbearers were Duane Walterscheid, Kevin Cleveland, Tommy Herron, Bill Sicking, Ricky Dale Tompkins and Tony Tompkins.

Samuel Allen Williams “Sam”...
Samuel Allen Williams “Sam”, 56, passed away March 15, 2006 in Wichita Falls, TX.
He was born January 1, 1950 in Gainesville, TX to Raymond and Claudine Poston Williams. On June 19, 1998 he married Lisa A. Beberstein. Sam worked for the City of Nocona as the Public Works Directon. He was a member of the Baptist faith and he served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam Conflict.
A memorial service for Mr. Williams was held Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Nocona with Cal Kirk officiating. Scott Morris Funeral Home directed the service.
Survivors include: his wife, Lisa Williams of Nocona; children Russell & Misty Williams of Terral, OK, Brandi Ann Reed and Meghan & Craig Bentley, all of Nocona, TX; two sisters, Shirley Skinner of Nocona and Jackolyn Bargeron of AL; one brother, Don Williams of Big Springs, TX; Brandy Kirk of Arlington, TX; and six grandchildren.

Zora Mae Swaringen Ward...
Zora Mae Swaringen Ward, 84, passed away March 20, 2006 in Wichita Falls, TX.
She was born February 23, 1922 in Roaring Springs, TX to the late James Alexander and Laura Carlisle Swaringen. She married Everett Ray Ward on October 1, 1950 in Fort Worth, TX. Mrs. Swaringen loved her husband, family, friends, church and country. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Nocona for 39 years.
Funeral services were Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at First United Methodist Church in Nocona with Pastor Larry Kruger officiating. Scott Morris Funeral Home of Nocona directed the service.
Burial followed in DFW National Cemetery.
Survivors include: her sons, Farrell and Greg Ward; daughter Susan Ward; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; four brothers; one sister; and numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by: her beloved husband of 50 years, Everett Ray Ward in 2001; her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.

Creo McIntyre...
Creo Martin McIntyre, known to many as “Grandma”, passed from this life into the eternal security of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 19, 2006 in Azle, Texas at the age of 91.
Creo Belle Spry was born August 15, 1914 in Springtown, the daughter of Walter and Anna Robinson Spry. She had been a resident of Bowie for the past 28 years where she actively participated in the Bowie Sr. Citizen Center during the 1980’s, even performing as a member of the “Smilin’ Seniors” musical band. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Bowie.
“Grandma” lived simply and devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed life to the fullest as was evident in her glorious laugh. She loved the Lord and served Him with joy; praising Him and being a faithful witness to His mercy and goodness.
Her husband, Bonnie Martin, her parents, one sister and one brother preceded Mrs. McIntyre in death.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m Tuesday, March 21 at White’s Azle Chapel. Burial followed at Jaybird Cemetery, located between Azle and Springtown.
Mrs. McIntyre is survived by two daughters, Annie Wilson and husband John of Azle, Cora Lou St. John and husband Raymond of Chico, and a son, Donnie Ray Martin of Bowie. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews. Paid publication

Glenna Kay Ensey, 56, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2006 in Bowie, TX.
She was born May 14, 1949 in Bowie, TX to Glenn and Mattie (Moore) Russell. She worked in nursing homes as a nurses’ aide. She spent time quilting and crocheting and enjoyed the outdoors camping on the lake. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ensey were Saturday, March 18, 2006 in the Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home with Revs. Jamie Reed and Paul Naeve officiating. White Family Funeral Home directed the service. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery.
She is survived by: her husband, Bobby Ensey of Bowie, TX; daughters, Marshelle Campbell and Carolyn Hood of Bowie, TX; step-daughers, Angela Ensey of Bowie, TX, Donna York of Terral, OK and Lisa Barne of Bowie, TX; grandchildren, Jesse Garza, Ricky Garza, Billy Joe Hood, Joe Don Hood, Casey Hood, Lacey Singleton, Allyson Clark, Lily Rose York, Damien Barne; brothers, Beechie Russell and his wife, Kathy and Billy Russell and his wife, Cindy, all of Bowie, TX; and aunt, Nell Whitson of Chico, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Gracie Aguillard.

William Jackson Crow, 88, of Nocona, TX, passed away March 15, 2006 in the Nocona hospital.
He was born February 3, 1918 in Spanish Fort, TX to John Marvin and Minnie Lee Bouldin Crow. On July 23, 1989 he married Mary Helen Callaway in Nocona, TX. Mr. Crow was a farmer/rancher and worked in the oil field. He was a member of the Baptist faith and a member of the Nocona Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services were Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with his son, Joe Crow and grandson, Jonathan Brown officiating. Jerry Woods Funeral Home directed the service. Burial followed in Nocona Cemetery with Masonic Rites conducted by the Nocona Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Helen Crow of Nocona, TX; children, Joe Lynn Crow, Linda Marie Brown and Rodger Crow, all of Nocona and Ann Sanders, Roy Heugatter, Randel Heugatter and Fred Heugatter; one sister, Ruby Moenning of Nocona, TX; twenty grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents and his wife of 45 years, Orpha Virginia Davis Crow in 1984.
Pallbearers were Jim Harris, John Murphey, Onis Davis, Joe Sanders, Randel Heugatter, Fred Heugatter, Roy Heugatter, James Carpenter
