Mittie Alta Turner...
Mittie Alta Turner 85, of Childress Texas died Monday, May 22, 2006. Funeral Services were held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home. Arrangements were entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Alta was born August 25, 1920 in Montague, Tx. to Robert E. and Jossie Jewel Fox Bell. She was raised at Montague and spent much of her young life in this area, living in Bowie, Chico, Alvord and Decator Texas. Alta worked at the bus station during the 1940's at Bellvue and in Bowie. She managed the cafe at G&L Truckstop in Alvord during the 1960's where she met and then married her late husband J.C. Turner in 1970.
Alta and J.C. moved to Gould Oklahoma where they enjoyed a wonderful home and life together until his death in 1984. Alta continued to live in Gould where she was active in the community serving on the board for the county extension and home economics. She loved politics and served on the election board for her area, chosen by the governor of Oklahoma.She participated in the Harmon County Fair and was named "Grand Champion" numerous times. She was an avid gardener, cook, seamstress, and craftswoman. She had many hobbies and joys including spending time with family and friends. Alta never went anywhere without her little companion dog "Toy", a very cute boston terrior mix she raised from a puppy. She truly enjoyed her great friends Wanda Taylor, Geneva Smith and Burton McKee. The four of them spent countless evenings on her back patio enjoying their times together.
Alta spent the last year and a half living in Childress being cared for by her son, Robert Reynolds and wife Ela. Alta was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband J.C., sisters; Alma Bell Whitecotton, Estell Bell Goff, brothers;Hillard Bell, and Raymond Bell.
She is survived by her son Robert Reynolds and wife Ela of Childress, step-son Clyde Turner and wife, Alma Ruth of Amarillo, Tx., step-daughter Jean Stinson Crew and husband, Jim of Norman Oklahoma. Sisters; Marie Mowery and Annie Mae Reynolds both of Bowie, brothers; Robert E. (Bobby) Bell and William Bell both of Bowie; Grandchildren Debbie Reynolds, Tammy Hawkins, Bobby Reynolds, Marie Bussa, Johnny Smith, Donna Garland, Cheryl Turner, Jana Weigel, Shelee Swartzendruber, and Shauna Singleton Numerous Great Grandchildren and one great-great grandchild..............and "Toy"
She will be loved and missed greatly by her family and friends. The world has lost a treasure. Paid publication
Ila S. Spivey
Services for Ila S. Spivey were at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 24th at the Carter Lake Baptist Church in Bowie. Rev. Ben Wiseman and Rev. Kevin Johnson officiated. Burial followed at Nocona Cemetery. Services were directed by Heritage Family Funeral Home in Bowie.
Ila S. Spivey, 78 passed away May 22, 2006 in Bowie. She was born January 7, 1928 in Stoneburg, TX to Homer and Belle Lewis. She has been a resident of Bowie since 1964.
Ila was a member of the Carter Lake Baptist Church in Bowie and worked as a custodian for Bowie I.S.D and as a seamstress.
Survivors include: two daughters, Arlinda Miller of Bowie and LaQuitta Pierce of Vernon, one son, Charles Spivey of Duncan, nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two brothers, Homer Ray Lewis, Willie Guy Lewis, two sisters, Mary Fay Reed and Deanna Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by: Husband, Harold E. Spivey, two sons, Horold Wayne Spivey and James Ray Spivey, parents, Homer and Belle Lewis, brother Wayne Lewis and sister, Audra Bounds.
Harold “Joe” Loper...
Services for Harold “Joe” Loper were at 4:00 pm Monday, May 22nd at the First Baptist Church in Saint Jo. Rev. Keith Rogers officiated. Burial followed at Mountain Park Cemetery. Service were directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo.
Harold “Joe” Loper passed away May 19, 2006. He was born in Post Oak Prairie near Bonita, Texas on December 3, 1939 to Henry Loper and Trudy “Sally” Lough Loper. He married Patsy June Tucker on October 9, 1958. He worked for International Shoe Company until its closure in 1968. At this time he returned to Saint Jo where he began working for Weber Aircraft in the machine shop, until his retirement in June 2005.
Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church in Saint Jo where he had served as a deacon. His greatest pleasure came serving his Lord and Savior in various ways.
Survivors include: wife Patsy June Loper; daughters Cathy Thompson and Sharon Giffen, all of Saint Jo; grandchildren , Laura Hopkins, Jessica Williams, Patrick Thompson, Aaron Giffen, and Chelsea Giffen. Great-grandson Daniel Hopkins, all of Saint Jo; Brother Rayburn Laseman of Norman, Oklahoma.
Presiding him in death are his parents Henry & Trudy Loper and a sister, Patsy Watson.
Pallbearers were: John Thompson, Patrick Thompson, Tony Hopkins, Paul Giffen, Aaron Giffen, and Dudley Sparkman.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the American Prostrate Cancer Center or the American Breast Cancer Center.
Betty McGee Cirigliano...
Betty McGee Cirigliano, 56 of Bowie, TX, passed away May 16, 2006 in Bowie, TX.
She was born June 3, 1949 in Wichita Falls, TX to Travis and Hazel Brumfield. She graduated from Bowie High School and worked at Bowie Memorial Hospital and with Home Health as a nurse. Services were held May 18, 2006 at 3:00 pm in the Heritage Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Don Brumfield officiating. Interment followed at Elmwood Cemetery.
Survivors include: her husband, David Cirigliano of Bowie, one son Anthony Vincent and wife, Carrie, of Bowie, one daughter Angela Vincent of McKinney, two brothers Travis Brumfield and wife, Emma, of Oceanside, CA, Terry Brumfield and wife, Trish, of Breckenridge, five grandchildren, Aimee Musick, Brianna Musick, Azlyn Vincent, Hunter Breeden, and Victoria Breeden.
She was preceeded in death by: one daughter, Aimee Vincent, and her parents, Travis and Hazel Brumfield.

Raymond Gill...
Raymond Gill, 80, of Bellevue, TX passed away Saturday, May 20, 2006 in Henrietta.
Funeral services were10:00 am., Monday, May 22, 2006 at the Bellevue Church of Christ with Mr. Sonny Cole of Saint Jo, TX officiating. Burial followed in the Bellevue Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Mr. Gill was born June 7, 1925 in Bellevue, TX to Lee and Joy (Lawson) Gill. He served his country in the U.S. Army and married Georgene Davis on November 17, 1946 in Bowie, TX. He was a Farmer and had served on the ASCS Board in Clay County. He also had served on the Bellevue I.S.D. School Board two times and had served as a Clay County Commissioner, and was a member of the Bellevue Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his wife Georgean Gill on December 17, 2002.
Survivors include two daughters Kathy Gill, Paula Jones and one son Jackie Gill all of Bellevue, nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Wilson and one brother, John Gill both of Burkburnett, TX. |
