Evelyn Mabel Gehrs, 58, passed away
February 12, 2006 in Wichita Falls, TX.
Mrs. Gehrs was born September 16, 1947 in East Orange,
New Jersey to Michael and Maria (Popowitch) Flanagan.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, February 18, 2006
at 2:00 p.m. in the Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home with
Wendell Burnam officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the White
Family Funeral Home.
She is survived by her daughter, Terry Jones Nocona,
TX; and two nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and
Maria Flanagan; and twin sister, Elena Blankenship.
Ruth Otwell...
Ruth Otwell, 95, of Nocona, TX, passed away
February 14, 2006 in Nocona.
She was born August 24, 1910 in Davidson, OK to Ulysses
Walker and Sadie Ann McElroy Reed.
Graveside services for Mrs. Otwell were Thursday,
February 16, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Nocona Cemetery with Dale Scott
officiating. Scott Morris Funeral Home directed the service.
Survivors include: her children, Bill Reed Pettyjohn of
Ingram, TX, Mike Pettyjohn and Sara Sue Thompson, both of Nocona, TX
and Tom Jack Pettyjohn of Whitney, TX; eleven grandchildren; twenty
great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Nona Radene McMillion...
Nona Radene McMillion, 55, passed away Thursday,
February 16, 2006 in Bowie, Texas.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February
19 at Ebenezer Pentecostal Church of God with pastors Ronnie and
Marilyn Tucker officiating under the direction of the White Family
Funeral Home.
Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery.
Nona was born August 22, 1950 in Nocona, Texas to
Melvin and Mary Joyce Buck. She was a Christian and spent her life
serving God. Her joy was spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her father, Melvin Buck and
son, Wesley Dan McMillion.
She is survived by her daughters, Richelle McMillion of
Bowie, Heather McMillion and husband, Brian Baldano of Austin;
grandsons Tyler and Jarek McMillion and Ethan Baldonado; mother, Mary
Wooten of Nocona; one brother, Danny Buck and his wife, Jill of
Nocona; and sisters, Marilyn Tucker and her husband, Ronnie of Bowie
and Elaine Huff of Iowa Park.
Pallbearers: Robert Taylor, Limmie Evans, Rodney
Alewine, Richard Cudjo, Jacky Wright, and Joe Avila.

Clyde McDonald Smith...
Clyde McDonald Smith passed away after a lengthy
illness on February 12, 2006 in Bowie, TX.
Clyde was born December 7, 1915 in Alvord, TX to
Charlie Phillip and Rosalee Smith. He graduated from Alvord High
School in 1935 and attended Tarleton State College. He entered the
Army March 10, 1941 and served 4 1/2 years in the 786 Tank Batallion
in the European Theatre. He married Gladys Joy Horner on July 17, 1945
in Decatur. He was a dairyman, farmer and rancher.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. February 14, 2006
at the First Baptist Church in Alvord, TX, where he had been a member
for over 50 years. Bill Cleveland, Pastor, conducted the service.
Burial was in Briar Branch Cemetery which joins the Smith farm.
Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Glady Joy
Smith; sons, Phillip W. Smith, Clyde McDonald Smith II; and one
daughter, Anna Smith Heller and husband Lynn Heller; grandchildren
Lora Ann Hawley and Brian T. Whaley of Alvord, Tx; one sister, Mary
Rutherford of Decatur, TX and one brother, C.P. Smith, Jr. of Alvord,
TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by: his parents and two brothers,
Johnie E. Smith and Robert L. Smith.
Clyde was civic minded, having served on the local
School Board, County School Board, Soil Conservation Board and Farmers
Home Administration Board. He was named Soil Conservationist of the
year in 1978 of Denton-Wise County. He took great pride in being a
good steward of the land, striving to make it more productive for
future generations. It’s a legacy his family is carrying on.

Brandon Keith Hill...
Brandon Keith Hill, 21, went to be with
his Lord and Savior on February 18, 2006 in Bowie, TX.
Brandon was born May 20, 1984 in Yuba City, CA. He
attended school in Rockwall and Wylie, TX until the 8th grade when he
moved to Colorado with his family. After graduating High School, he
joined the United States Marine Corp. Brandon was very proud of his
service and honored to serve his country. After his discharge from the
Marines, he moved to New Braunfels, TX where he lived for awhile prior
to moving to Bowie. Brandon loved living in Bowie where he was a
member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed singing with the choir.
He enjoyed writing songs and poetry.
A memorial service with military honors were held at
10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Bowie with Brother
Mike Henson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the
White Family Funeral Home.
Brandon is survived by: his mother, Victoria
Brown and step-father, Robert Sr. of Pueblo West, CO; maternal
grandparents, Ed and Pearl Brinkman of Annapolis, MN; two sisters,
Christine Pierce and husband, Jason, their two sons, Devon and Derek
of New Braunfels, TX; Candace Berry, her two sons, Cole and Logan of
Dallas, TX; brother, Curtis Berry and wife, Kim, their son, Tyler of
Dallas, TX; two step-brothers, Tim Brown and wife, Shannon, their
children, Whitney, Ryan and Keaton of Pueblo West, CO; Robert Brown,
Jr. and special friend, Kevin Wiley of Las Vegas, NV; aunt and uncle,
Diane Vanhounten and husband, Jimmy of Bowie; uncle Monroe Edwards of
Pipe Creek, TX; and cousins, Charles Edwards of Pipe Creek, TX, Bobby
Wilson and family, Rickey Wilson and family, James Paul Vanhouten and
family, Shawnte Vanhouten and family, and Lisa Wilson and family, all

Rev. Shannon Don McNerlin...
Rev. Shannon Don McNerlin, age 72, of
Nocona, TX passed away February 7, 2006 in Nocona Hills, Nocona, TX.
Rev. McNerlin was born January 25, 1934 in Spur, TX to
Willard Britton and Willie Mae Cowan McNerlin. He attended Duke
University and Southern Methodist University. He pastored churches in
Logan, NM, Santa Rosa, NM, Tatum, NM, Nara Visa, NM and Bovina, TX. He
moved to Nocona in 1975 and was also involved in mining and oil
businesses.
Funeral services for Rev. McNerlin were held February
10, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Nocona,
TX with Rev. Larry Kruger and Rev. Ryan Strebeck officiating.
Interment was at Monahans Cemetery Saturday, February 11, 2006 under
the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Frances
Elizabeth McNerlin; one son, Allen Britt McNerlin; four grandchildren;
five great grandchildren; three sisters, Billie Clarke, Columbia, MO,
Athelda Courtney, Del Rio, TX and Gail Udemi, Brookshire, TX; and one
brother, Randy McNerlin, Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by one son, Shannon McNerlin;
and one daughter, Rosellen Ward. |
