Sammie “Sam” Lee Roberts...
Sammie “Sam” Lee Roberts, 51, passed away Friday, August 17, 2007 in Bowie, TX.
Sam was born October 30, 1955 in Waxahachie, TX, to Robert Henry and Almeta Rae (Fowler) Roberts. He graduated high school and joined the United States Army. He married Kay on May 21, 1988 in Wichita Falls, TX and moved to Sunset in 1988. He worked as a truck driver for several trucking companies. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and motorcycling. He was known as “Pack Rat” by his friends and he never met a stranger.
Memorial services were at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday in the Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home. Arrangements entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Roberts and son, Samuel Roberts, both of Sunset; father, R.H. and wife, Jan Roberts, Italy, TX and mother, Almeta Roberts, Gallitin, TN; brother, Chris Roberts, Arlington; sister, Karen Roberts, Arlington, TX; stepbrothers and sisters, Randy Rudd and wife, Lynn, Italy, TX, Tammy Dekle and husband, Ralph, Duncanville, Vicky Compton and husband, Waxahachie, TX and Hot Rod Rudd and wife, Christine, Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews.

J.W. Taylor, 78, of Wichita Falls, TX, passed away on August 20, 2007 in Wichita Falls.
He was born on June 23, 1929 to Marvin Alexander and Tina Taylor, in Lockney, TX. He married Shirley in 1998 and lived in the Sunset, TX, area for 20 years. He was a truck driver and was of the Baptist faith.
Graveside services were on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Denver Cemetery, Sunset, with Bro. Glen Weldon of Sunset Methodist Church officiating and arrangements under the direction of the Heritage Family Funeral Home, Bowie, TX.
Survivors include one niece, Verna Mae Jackson, Sunset, TX and two nephews, Gene Lummus, Swannanoa, NC and Bob Lummus, Cundler, NC.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Taylor; parents, Marvin and Tina Taylor; sister, Vera Lummus; brother, Allen Taylor and nephew, Roger Lummus.

Edna Grace “Bland” Kays...
Edna Grace “Bland” Kays, 82, of Saint Jo, TX, passed away on August 14, 2007 in Nocona, TX.
She was born on October 19, 1924 in Sanger, TX, to Harrison Douglas and Minnie (Dunlap) Bland. She retired from Denton State school and was a member of the Saint Jo First Assembly of God Church.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m., Friday in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, Saint Jo, with the Rev. Clarence Russell officiating.
Graveside services were Friday in Sanger, TX, at 2:00 p.m., with arrangements under the direction of the McCoy Funeral Home.
Jason (Morris) Benedict “Sleepy”...
On Friday, July 20, 2007, Jason left his earthly body to be with the Lord.
He was born on December 28, 1980 in Bowie, TX. He was raised in Bowie until 1993 when he moved to Sherman. He worked in construction and loved his work. Always a smile on his face, Jason was most passionate about his family, protective of his siblings, his mom, and his dad. Jason also had a love for art. His drawings would wow even the worst of critics. He will forever be missed and remembered.
Jason (Morris) Benedict “Sleepy” was laid to rest July 24, 2007 at White Mound Cemetery, under the wonderful care of Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman, TX, with Bro. Eddy Johnson as Jason’s last voice.
Jason is survived by his parents, Tony and Jeri Ann Benedict; brother, Fielder Benedict; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Anthony Pacheco; grandparents, Alan and Shirley Harris, George and Susie Streng and Roger and Tammie Benedict, all of Sherman, TX; Aunt Brenda and Uncle Reese, Bowie, Uncle Robert Harris and Pam, Denison, TX, Aunt Kathie and Uncle Craig Maxwell, Aunt Rhonda and Uncle Ronnie Benedict, all of Sherman and numerous cousins.
To those who truly knew and loved Jason, there’s not a single doubt that our hearts hurt, but knowing he is with our Lord makes our pain much more bearable. He truly touched everyone he met with his smiling face.
Be at peace my child, for you are now without pain.
Paul Yeager...
Paul Yeager, 78, of Nocona, TX, passed away August 16, 2007 in Wichita Falls, TX.
He was born July 5, 1929 in Ringgold, TX to Walter Rumsey and Anna Mary Boyd Yeager. Paul was a member of First Baptist Church of Nocona and Ringgold Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He served in the US Army from 1947 to 1950. He was the owner of Paul Yeager Painting.
Funeral services were Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Nocona with Rev. Dave Woodbury officiating. Burial followed in Ringgold Cemetery, with arrangements under the direction of the Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
Survivors include: one son, Jay Yeager and wife, Angela of Nocona; two grandchildren, Mike Penaluna and Jaydn Yeager of Nocona; and special friend, Elizabeth Vendrick of Wichita Falls.
Memorials may be made to the North Montague County Food Bank, c/o Legend Bank, or the American Cancer Society.
Alvin Elvis Roberts...
Alvin Elvis Roberts, 85, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2007 in Bowie, TX.
Alvin was born March 28, 1922 in Thornberry Community in Clay County, to Elvis L. and Mary Ruth (Corley) Roberts. He graduated from Bowie High School in 1940 and served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Neva Jo Anderson on February 17, 1946 in Bowie. They moved to Bowie in 1948 and owned and operated Roberts Radiator Shop until 1961. In 1961, he opened up his real estate office and was one of the first brokers in Bowie and retired in 1994.
Alvin was a big supporter of Little League Baseball and other youth activities. He was active in the Lions Club for thirty years and a member of the Bowie Chamber of Commerce from 1948-1994, serving as President in 1959. He was Citizen of the Year in 1974 and past president of Montague County Board of Realtors. He was a director of the First National Bank, which became Legend Bank. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of Lodge #578. He enjoyed farming and loved his family and grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the First Baptist Church of Bowie, with Bros. Mike Henson and Richard McMillion officiating.
Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery, with arrangements entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Neva Jo Roberts, Bowie; children, Terry Lee Roberts, Roy Roberts and wife, Phyllis and Tina Gilland and husband, Stephen, all of Bowie; three grandchildren, Shane Roberts and wife, Libby, San Diego, CA, Spencer Gilland and wife, Angela, Roanoke and Suzanna Gilland, Grapevine, TX; brother, Lee Royce Roberts and wife, Dorothy, Cedar Park, TX and sister, Lawana Bolden and husband, Bob, Gordonville, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Laska Sanders and Florette Mayo and one brother, Gene Roberts.
