Jack Marvin Strickland...

 Jack Marvin Strickland, 90, of Bowie, TX passed away Monday, December 22, 2008 in Wichita Falls, TX.

 Mr. Strickland was born October 21, 1918 in Roanoke, Denton County, TX to Jack H. and Ila (Barron) Strickland. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II, where he earned a Purple Heart in combat. He married Doyle Lindsey Borgman on March 30, 1983 in Alvord, TX. He was a retired sectionman for the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad.

 Graveside services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the Hope Cemetery in Henrietta, TX, with Reverend Howard Walker, pastor of the First Christian Church of Henrietta, TX, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta, TX.

 Survivors include his brother, R.C. Strickland of Henrietta, TX; sister, Anna Lou McKee of Wichita Falls, TX; sister-in-law, Marcy Strickland of Godley, TX; nieces, Cheryl Labriola of Porterville, CA and Melinda Gibson of Godley, TX; and nephew, Richard McKee and wife, Pat, of Wichita Falls, TX.

 He was preceded in death by his wife, Doyle on July 30, 1998; brothers, Nick Strickland and Clyde Strickland; step-son, John Borgman in 1996; and nephew, Gary Strickland.

Evalyn Barbara Ditto...

 Evalyn Barbara Ditto, 90, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008 in Bowie, TX.

 Evalyn was born September 7, 1918 to Simon and Barbetta Miller in Osceola County, Iowa. She was the youngest of twelve children and graduated the valedictorian of her class. She attended the University of Texas at Austin until she was called to duty in the United States Army during World War II as a translator and medical assistant. After the war, she continued her medical career in Chicago, winning awards for malaria research. She eventually moved back to Texas where she met and married her husband, Raymond Ditto. They lived in Pleasant Ridge, near Bowie. Evalyn was an avid reader and collected cookbooks. She was a member of the American Legion, Bowie VFW Auxilliary and a founding member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church.

 Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, with Father Richard Collins, Celebrant. Burial followed at Brushy Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, TX.

 She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Ditto of Bowie; brother, Dan Miller of Sunnyvale, CA; sister, Bobbie Williams of Montana; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Ditto; six brothers; and three sisters.

Joan Elaine Durham...

 Joan Elaine Durham, 71, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 in Denton, TX.

 She was born December 21, 1936 in Borger, TX to J.E. and Ruth Davis. She married Leo Durham on August 1, 1970 in Decatur, TX and was the Bowie City Secretary until retirement and was also a charter member of the Faith Baptist Church in Bowie.

 Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Faith Baptist Church in Bowie, TX. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, TX.

 She is survived by her husband, Leo Durham of Bowie; two nephews, Roy Nichols of Gallup, NM and David Nichols of Aztec, NM; and a step-brother, Bobby Davis of Odessa, TX.

Timothy Shane Crum...

 Timothy Shane Crum, 44, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008 in Bowie, TX.

 He was born November 8, 1964 in Fort Worth, TX to Samuel John and Norma Nell (Blaylock) Crum.

 Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2008 in the Drawing Room of the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, TX. Burial followed in Smyrna Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, TX.

 He is survived by his mother, Norma Nell Campbell of Bowie; three brothers, Roger Lee Crum of Gatesville, TX, Harry Dell Crum of Cedar Creek, TX and Ronald J. Crum of Langdon, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul Johnson...

 Paul Johnson, 80, of Nocona, TX, passed away December 21, 2008 in Nocona.

 He was born October 14, 1928 in Montague County Texas to Gene and Mae Thompkins Johnson. He was a machinist and an avid fisherman & hunter. He was a member of the Machinist Union.

 Graveside services were Friday, December 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Montague Cemetery with Rev. Sonny Cole officiating. Jerry Woods Funeral Home of Nocona directed the service.

 Survivors include: four sons, Billy Gene Johnson, Robert Wayne Johnson, Rodger Paul Johnson and Michael Lynn Johnson, all of Wichita Falls, TX; nine grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Sue Thompson...

 Sue Thompson, 66, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in Bowie, TX.

 She was born January 8, 1942 in Marrilton, AR to Wyte and Velma Irene (Thompson) Anderson. She was a housekepper at Bowie Memorial Hospital.

 Graveside services were at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, TX. Arrangements were entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, TX.

 She is survived by her daughter, Carol Thompson Powers of Bowie; granddaughter, Phyllis Scruggs of Bowie; and great granddaughter, Savanna Scruggs of Bowie.
